Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
#8011
I was just thinking, say CPZ is out of the picture and the company was free to furlough without a flow down. If the number was up to the last pre 9/11 NWA hire, which is 476 pilots. Say 150 PIRP out, thats 326 pilots. To me, if those 326 pilots are furloughed then I think there will be a considerable amount of MDs for those who remain which without being at SOC yet means at the least DAL won't be freely able to staff the fleet as properly as after SOC.
So I being just slightly below that last 9/11 NWA hire would prefer a PIRP II in August. But I'm not privy to all of the details that would determine if a PIRP II <= Furloughs + MDs, but I sure would like to hope so.

Funny stuff, this forum...
You come after me for defending a guy who is being attacked not because of performance, but because of a speech impediment...twice!
You poor man
Might be time to leave the forum fan club for awhile if this level of "thought" is going to be put into the debate.

I thought there were significant penalties or road blocks for canceling the flow or am I just thinking of the flow down and the removing of seats in some 76 seaters? I really don't want to work for republic...

They can furlough as Forgot to Bid states 476 or so before they hit the NWA 2001 hires. If they furlough to that number they only pull the 153 seats in the added jets that are part of the 76 seat scope settlement that was agreed to a few months ago. They do not pull them out of all of the jets. FWIW.
I am not saying we are going to furlough, I am saying it is getting harder and harder to not. Now if they really see an uptick next year, then there is no reason. But as the profit forecast gets amended each quarter we make less and less this year. In fact I think we are close to or at the magic 20% where we start to go red for the year. Oil is up and that hurts us as well.
Like I said, I will not be surprised to see some no so bullish news on Thursday.
You have not been around for some time. Glad so see you back!

Well here is something official for all of you MD-90 doubters
Delta has purchased an additional MD-90 from Boeing that will go into service in spring or summer of next year following interior modifications. The plane, considered a domestic workhorse for Delta, likely will serve markets up and down the East Coast and from the mid-U.S. hubs of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Detroit and Salt Lake City, to both coasts, said Nat Pieper, v.p.-Fleet Strategy.
“We are very happy with the performance of our existing 16 MD-90 aircraft, as they are among the most efficient aircraft that we operate today,” Nat said. “As a result, we’re always seeking attractive market opportunities to acquire more MD-90s, and it’s a key component of our fleet strategy that we presented to the Board in January.”
The plane, previously owned by a Swiss charter operator, first will be brought to Delta standards with new seats, cabin configuration and other modifications.

I think there are actually three in the parking lot. It's good to hear spring or summer of next year as I was hearing it was going to be fall of next year. It also appears that the plan is still a one for one replacement with old 88's. It will be nice to see a nice large MD-90 base in MSP next spring.

3 from SAS
1 from Boeing
3 from Hello 2 here and one coming this fall.
I have heard a total of 35.
All in VCV. Sitting out there getting a tan, but they need Mods.

Thanks! This has been a great source of info for me about CPS and their relationship with DAL.

Best of luck at CPS. Nice jet and some good flying. I hear you guys might be getting an ATL base very soon!

You weren't in the meeting... He was trying his darndest to talk down to us and ensure we knew who was in charge. It was certainly ironic.
Gonna take your toys and run home since you're backed into a corner?
Like I said in the PM (you gonna respond?), I appreciate all the things the union has done in the merger and with safety...however, scope is a glaring problem that we have here and there is a constant battle to push mainline guys out of our jobs. We want to see some fight there and some gainbacks.

wow atlanta? That is something i brought up to tim cambell and he said that our current fleet size would be difficult to add a fourth domicle, specifically atl as i brought up that very question to him. I could see mem as the likely odd man out but they just ok'd money to significantly improve the crew room situation. Always a fluid situation in this industry... never a dull moment. Perhaps it could be detroit as well since... who knows in detroit is slightly bigger then mem. and both combined are approximately the same size as msp.
Welcome pinkpanther. I suspect things and moral will improve here at Compass as many had real heartburn with our chief pilot who was recently shown the door and told to make his living with the rest of us grunts. Hopefully he will get a chance to live under these same working conditions he implamented. Overall a good company with great pilots and a nice plane when Northwest ramp/gate personal don't smash into it with belt loaders, baggage carts and jet-ways
