Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

IA, there are many folks who simply do not have the choice to live in base as you seem to. For example, I am $250,000 upside down on my house that I acquired during a 6 year furlough. My military job that paid for my food during those 6 years just didn't happen to be in a Delta base, and I started a family during those long years away, so I had to get housing. Now I'm back at Delta, I'd love to move to my base, any base, but unless someone gives me $250k, I can't...
Here's something you get already that is $$$ and I don't: free parking at your base. I'd love to have free parking at my airport, but instead of every pilot getting a parking stipend to do with as they desire, the "non commuter prejudice" kicks in and only those living in a pilot (or flt att) base get this perk. I pay about $150/mo for parking.
I think we can agree that life for the commuter is nowhere near as nice from an airline perspective as for those who are ABLE to live in base... rather than demanding that those less fortunate than you not get any improvement in their lives unless you get a commensurate good deal, can you not look upon those less fortunate and say, "Ok, THAT is a pretty crappy deal, maybe a small mitigation of pain so they only have 5 times the pain as I do would be ok..."

It is why I wish RA would charge DC on one issue he mentions. Fuel costs, and the fact that domestic tickets have to have the fuel included in the tickets. We can not add a fuel surcharge on after the ticket price for domestic flights. We must do this. Every other industry can do this. Breaking out the fuel cost would be a major win for us.
Also no reason to hire if you are going to get a flow agreement with a big regional like is rumored on the DALPA forum!![EEK!](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)

It sucks on the 88.
Don't know a whole lot about it but the ER unless you are top 1/3, you will be doing africa, domestic red-eyes, and uncommutable 2-days that you can't do back-to-back because of domicile rest.
765 is decent, as long as you like LHR, DTW, and MIA layovers.
73N is a big mystery to me.

Ok. As a North guy, and someone who is still trying to figure things out....
.....how does a 365 day conversion AE work? I mean, does that mean there will be no more AE's out until next summer? Or, if another AE comes out in March, when do the people who got awarded something get trained?
Basically, I'm totally confused because:
1.) The company says by next November basically all the DC-9's will be parked. But, this 365 day conversion AE doesn't park all the DC-9's by November 1st. &
2.) The company says that by next December we will have 20 more MD90's. But, this 365 day AE only increases the amount of MD88 A's by 25 and 32 MD88 B's.
If I think about it any more, I'll just confuse myself more.
Did I just confuse anyone else?

Every AE seems to generate more angst than the last one. As a long time CVG based pilot who got "downsized" I feel your pain (MEM) and all the rest who are MD's. Let's focus back on the facts. Delta is making money. They are making money in a year where there are numerous excuses to lose money (earthquakes, tornadoes, fuel prices, Martian invasions, etc.) yet they are still making money. They are going to make money next year. They are not going to furlough. They will hire again soon (not as soon as we would like but soon enough). I have worked for Delta when they were financially viable and when they were going (or currently) bankrupt. We are in Plan A. Plan A does not produce the growth we all would hope for but it also is producing consistent profits in dog poop financial conditions. Consistent profits will eventually lead to growth AND better contracts. Don't panic. I have seen Delta as a failing airline and this aint it. Hang in there, it is already getting better, it is just hard to see it sometimes.

Each new AE will adjust for the changes/shortcomings from the last AE. The next AE will most likely have more MD-88/90 openings and more DC-9 displacements. They will also adjust to the changing market conditions that affects how Hauenstein deploys our aircraft to make money (we like making money).
The bottom line is that there can and most likely will be overlapping AE's with multiple training/conversion windows. You have gotten the big picture. More MD-90's, phase out of DC-9's. Shape your bidding strategy around that.
