You can add me to the list of people sick of seeing it too. The last several pages of this thing are 90% DPA/ALPA ramblings. Most of us like this thread for other reasons. I, too, would like to see it go back to other things, like when is this next AE going to come out, and what rumors have people heard as far as hiring, etc. If and when I want to read more opinions about DPA/ALPA, I will read that thread.
Carl, please, why can't you see that you may be doing more harm than good? You do a great job on calling people out and providing factual support. Unfortunately your delivery turns some people off, including DPA supporters and fence sitters.
As a main voice on here supporting DPA you should strive to be better than Alpa. Your obviously a very intelligent man or you wouldn't be a 400 captain. I would love to sit in that seat one of these centuries. Your long airline career and experience is valuable to us younger guys. I've only been in the airlines for 12 years and flying 20 years....32 years left at Delta.
Alpa has decades of screw ups. We could write hundreds of posts rehashing these. DPA is new and has the opportunity to be a fresh, mistake-free virgin union. I know you don't believe me but I really did see just one individual destroy a drive.
I just wrote a short note and emailed it to DPA. I just outted myself!! In the letter I encouraged DPA to remind all its members to be polite and use effective communication. The drive will do better if we respect the organizers and supporters.

I hope to meet you one day. Dal88 irks some folks on the forums as well but he is one of the nicest guys I know. He is a genuine pleasure to work with and hang out for beers. My beer glass is half full.....hopefully your just like him.

Hopefully this will help change the mood around here....
Remember, we still have new-hire flight attendants floating around that hopefully look a bit like this.

This is another example of the latest attempt by a strong ALPA supporter to stifle communication. You never supported DPA CVG767A...never. You've mainly belittled anyone who would even consider the idea of DPA. If I'm wrong on that I'll look forward to you showing a previous post that did otherwise.
So here we have a strong ALPA supporter saying that all this DPA vs ALPA garbage has turned you off to something you've never supported in the first place. There is definitely a new pattern and tactic emerging here. If only ALPA would try the tactic of honest communication and member representation.

I've actually supported some of your positions in the past. Even if I haven't fully agreed with them, I considered it a good counterbalance to those who would blindly accept anything that ALPA offers. It was a little like "good cop/bad cop". Lately, however, it's more like "good cop/crazy cop". The bluster never ends, and it's gotten old.
Furthermore, I don't recall belittling anyone who supports DPA-- maybe you could show me a post where I did that. (I may have belittled the black helicopter crowd here; that's a little different, IMO).
My apologies to all for continuing this on the L&G thread; I'll make any future comments on the DPA thread.
The truth is that a DPA vote won't change the outcome of this Section 6 once the openers are exchanged. Since DALPA has already stated that we will not even see a summary of our opening position, we wont know approximately what it was until we all see the TA. Even if we vote NO on the TA, then immediately vote in the DPA, the best we could ever do would be our opening position...regardless of who the bargaining agent is.
If we don't vote DPA in prior to the exchange of openers in April, our futures will hinge on how strong that opener is...the opener that no member will get to see. After openers are exchanged, DPA will only be able to influence the NEXT contract.

Question: Several first officers have told me that they will sign up for DPA if they believe our contract survey to be weak or ALPA's opener with Delta to be too low. Are we going to know what we are asking for in our opening exchange with management or the results of the contract survey?
Answer: 8-1-11. The contract survey will be just that, a survey. Every pilot should complete it. We need 100% participation in order for the MEC to move forward with what the pilots want. Don't expect our contract survey or opener to be published until the opener has been exchanged. It is not good negotiating strategy to tell the other party what you intend to open with.

Second, I wouldn't ever vote for or against a union based upon a thread hijacks. But some of the logic I read and hear (primarily on the DALPA board) is beyond obtuse. That's what worries me.
