Now, in a vacuum, I liked it for probably the reason you said. As a commuter and on the bubble (current Delta system) one can bid into a position thinking they will be a line holder. IE, in my case I bid into SEA 330 with a 70% qualifier. So far so good, but what happens if in the next AE a bunch of senior dudes bid in and I drop to 90% and therefore reserve. In the NWA system, that wouldn't happen, there would be no line holder openings and one is safe........unless there are displacements then my displacement choice would kick in, line holder on something/someplace else.

We have much bigger fish to fry in the next section 6 and this will be too hard to get done in the section 6 context IMHO. I've flown with the father of the monthly APE system at NWA, and it was a multi-year process as I recall the stories.

So what seemed like a good idea can back fire?

Not at all, I'm still traumatized and unable to look at llamas.

As for 80, I think it was the lady down the street who said......"such a nice young man, so polite. Then they found the bodies in his backyard"

Bar I saw that also, I'm not sure about the implications of using the cash reserves to reduce adjusted debt, IOW is this an accounting adjustment, or is this a way of massaging then numbers for some type of upcoming investment opportunity?

Cheers

Great question. Considering (as I understand it) a lot of our cash is borrowed/lines of credit.

Exactly ... kind of like when I pull the credit card out at Pascals on A concourse instead of putting it on my credit card.

In other "news" Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce 72 days after her 10 million dollar wedding. Wish investing was as certain as the outcomes of ridiculously expensive Hollywood hook ups.

Default New 22 D 2 for May 12

There is a new 22d2 posted for May 12. I know this is not head count but it is a good indicator of what block hours are doing compared to the year before. For May 2011 total pilots required was 10297 and for May 2012 it is 9955. Most of the categories are the similar to the prior year. The biggest change was the DTW 744. CA went fm 224 to 180 and the FO's went from 251 to 190. This bid coming up could be interesting.

Yet they are keeping those three 744's in the fleet.....

And they never did post a bid to replace the 30 (in each seat) 744 Early Outs.

But...won't the 744 be "the Plane" for the upcoming troop withdrawl (MAC Charters) from Iraq? Perhaps they need to adjust their forecast 744 numbers and they will have some replacements on the next AE, due out soon?

We shall see...

Accounting is one of the true art forms.......

IMHO, DAL is just waiting to pounce and when they do it will surprise almost everyone.

Yep, this is the PBS min staffing formula, look for head count on the ae. Should be out within the next week or so.
