Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Isn't that sad?
Here we are at "The latest and greatest about Delta" and all its about is speculating about hiring for attrition maybe 2 years from now...
I better keep my mouth shut, else I'll get lectured again
"You should be lucky to have a job, look at the situation at American..."
The reality is probably more along the lines of: Delta was a first mover in the big consolidation game and now needs to wait its turn until the other players have executed their moves. In the meantime it will be status-qou while the company grows virtually via our partners, JV and otherwise...
Cheers
George

Target numero uno by each airline seems to be... employees and vendors.
Oh but we'll get new airplanes! To replace old ones, but not completely. Oh but we'll expand through merger! But we won't expand the size of the two companies. But we'll hire! But will the total pilot group number grow or shrink?
Everyone is doing the same thing. I'm not getting excited until they say- we're growing.
Sitting in my beautiful Doubletree room in ATL tonight. I'm going to do the A330 run time test starting tomorrow and my excitement is beyond description!!
So, I haven't looked at anything prior to getting here and the plan is to read everything CLOSELY while going through the course tomorrow and Wednesday. I guess there is 5 of us and they will throw out the fast and slow times and average the other three of us together for the official pay time.
Now, show of hands. I found out this weekend that IF I pass the ESV at the end I'll get credit for it. If not, it's no jeopardy. So, ....should I study for the test (ie LOD) like I would if I was going through the course for real. Or, should I drink beer at night and give updates on APC?
Ferd <-------probably has NO chance of passing this monster only going through the memory stick once

Hell, you can throw the defensive linemen in that category, too.
It's funny. I always thought there were minimum salary guarantees for all professional sports players. Apparently, I was wrong, because it's obvious that none of the offensive linemen for the Bears are getting paid.

Gotta have no shame to be a Cowboy fan
Do I expect it to happen again? I certainly hope not, but the list of airlines that have gone to the courts twice is quite long. Remember when Delta had 17 years in a row of customer service awards? How about when DAL and NWA were the models of financial success in the industry? Sorry for my pessimism. I work in the airline industry....every day is a new day.
You're right, the money is for Disability and Survivorship. Right now I'm told the majority of the funds are paying disability benefits (mostly non-seniority list), but supposedly there's a big wave of survivor benefits that will start being paid. I think most of the funds in the Trust are allocated to fund those future survivor benefits. I can see us hitching our wagon to a D&S survivor benefit just as the Trust gets sucked on hard, potentially leaving our survivors with an empty bag. Again, no thanks. JL's idea is a non-starter with me.
Show me the money in my name, please.

As far as the second goes, I'd want to see some figures justifing the above. Not saying you're doing it but the above bolded sounds a little like crying "wolf." Let's face it, the change to the D&S plan was a concession in bankruptcy. Are you trying to tell me we got a better deal now than it was before!! Sounds like you are telling me it's "raining." If you get my drift!
The $60 million we are paying from the plan for sick leave every year can fund alot of survivor benefits!! And I DO look at that as our (the pilots) money.
I can't argue with the last sentence either, especially the "Show me the money" part!!!
I gotta go fly and think about this!
