It would seem that the "red" is now firmly in control is one of the guys that high up can blatantly and willfully blow off something in the policy manual. and last I heard, the uniform was in the policy manual. SO if he DOESN'T say something to one of you guys that is carrying your hat in hand as you walk down the concourse, he has already lost my respect.
This all comes down to hats? GTBSM. I almost spilled my coffee while sitting in my rocking chair.

This was from the recent council 20 newsletter. Classic

A rumor is circulating that the
Delta uniform hat not only has
the ability to unify the pilot group
but also possesses some mythical
power over management.
It has been said that the power
of the hat, if properly used, is
immeasurable. The rumor also
states that the only path toward
contract restoration is through
our hats. Of course, I thought this
statement was ridiculous. The
rumor supposes that if all 12,000
Delta pilots wear their hats at the
same time and recite an incantation
while looking into a mirror,
dreams will be fulfilled.
Being the dutiful union representative
that I am, I decided to
test out this theory. I went into
my bathroom, placed my hat on
my head, and began to recite the
mystical chant three times—
“a Cadillac with a month’s pay,
a Cadillac with a month’s pay, a
Cadillac with a month’s pay.” The
lights flickered and then went out.
Suddenly, the lights came on, and,
to my horror, standing behind me
with an evil smile was a CEO from
many years past named Frank. I
spun around to face him, but he
was too quick for me. He kicked
me in my PCU (parental control
unit), grabbed my hat, and stole
my wallet, all the while laughing
hysterically. I struggled to get to
my feet. I last saw him running
down the street like a crazed
leprechaun, hat in hand, still laughing.
He kept repeating this haunting
phrase: “Pilots are such dumb
asses, pilots are such dumb asses,
pilots are such dumb asses.” The
rumor about the hat was real—
someone’s dreams did come true.

Carl, what he's trying to say is that oil prices (along with executive bonuses) remain stubbornly high.

*Forget to Bid

Speaking of which, I signed up for the crew auto notification program and have never had a notification. I show as signed up and my info is correct. Anyone have a similar problem / fix?

It works, and I got one back on the 5th. You will get one again on the 11th to remind you that the bids close on the 12th at 8 am.

You will also get one when your preliminary awards are put in DALnet, AE's Call to actions etc. It is a really good system.

Been waiting for a reroute to show up on the company one, but the schedulers have been so on top of it, that it never had a chance to send me one of those..

The tablet platform will be even more impressive.

Not sure but I think there is more than one notification system.
The company system only sends notifications of reroutes, irops, etc. Very infrequent. (if ever)

The union system is the one that sends the regular monthly reminders about bidding.

I forget how I signed up for the bidding reminders but I get them every month. Works good. The texts come from "dalcomm.alpa.org"
Maybe someone else can direct you to that dalcomm sign-up page.

I did not know there were 2 separate systems. Thanks.

Apparently that was the missing piece.

You can find the link to the ALPA PilotBlast text reminders on the alpa.org website.

Go to the DAL MEC site, then under the Committees Tab select P2P.

When you reach the Pilot to Pilot page, look on the right-hand side for an icon that says "PilotBlast". There you can sign up for the nifty reminders. As others have said, it works really well.

Now you'll have no excuse if you FTB

Yes, there are two, the one you want for bidding notifications is the DALPA "Pilot Blast", I think there is a link on the DALPA web site where you can sign up. Then there is the Company notification system for irops and Re-routes! You might -not- want to be notified with that system! But if you do, it's on the DLNET page.

Quotes from http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ne...te=1&p=1066120

"Daily departures will fall about 13 percent to 175 as some smaller markets are cut, he said. "

"AirTran yields a certain revenue per mile flown, and Southwest gets a premium to that.”

So SWA has revealed that their major plans for ATL is to cut flights 13% !! and to raise fares. Brilliant! How will we ever compete? TIC
