Part of me really itches to lower the bar and go for the quick upgrade.
I've even been told by Delta Captains that I should go to Republic or Freedom to clear the Comair stain off my resume. Talk about irony...
GoJetsss has a pilot job fair in CVG in two weeks. Do you guys think a move to GoJetssss Street Captain will improve my chances of getting hired at Delta?

I hold no ill will towards any of the FOs at Comair. JC Lawson hijacked that group, and besides, I doubt if Boomer were even there when that transpired. And in case YOU haven't been paying attention, it's not like there are a lot of aviation jobs out there for the youngster to go jump on to get his quals. If this mythical pilot shortage ever materializes, you might have a point. Until then I wish him the best and hope he throws gear for me one day real soon. I might even buy him a beer or two. I get your anger about the resignation of recall rights and all that, but cut the kid some slack. HE didn't do that. Now if JC Lawson walked in the room on fire I wouldn't... you know the rest...
I'm pretty much a ditto with T on this one.
Comair - wholly owned, shrinking, has flown DAL pax exclusively for X years, ALPA, etc. I'd rather see Comair get all our outsourced flying and revisit the staple.

But I can understand your assumption - I too see the pilot kids in the terminal and I have to shake my head.
Now back to the comparison of pay for Southwest vs Delta's domestic operations (DCI)...

Understand the 30 days notice is a Delta requirement. The 30 day notice requirement under the FMLA only applies to elective surgery which can be scheduled in advance. Unless your child is going to be delivered via C Section, known more than 30 days in advance, then there is NO thirty day requirement.
Unfortunately, ALPA's insurance "expert" is no help. She is unaware that President Obama signed the Flight Crew Technical Corrections Act, and how FMLA is properly applied.
The real core problem is that Delta's Human Resource Policy Manual has not been updated since the change in the Statute. HR is following wrong guidance. ALPA's "expert" is following Delta's guidance.

Try Section 13.H of the PWA for FMLA. The HPRM was updated in August 2010 to reflect the changes in law. Oh, the PWA and Delta policy provided for Family Leave in accordance with the 1993 law even though it technically didn't cover pilots and flight attendants.
Without getting overtly political, I'm sure you actively supported those that brought this rule into being in 1993 and improved upon it in 2009.
