wilco.

on the subject here's a couple of points why I think it should be even pay for the NBs:
  • First what are we basing pay on? Is it strictly mission such that the 777=744 pay even though the 744 seats 124 more people and they both do the long haul flying? If that's the case, why isn't DC9 pay equal 88 or E195/E190/CRJ900 pay equal 9/88 pay?
  • After retrofits 100% of the MD88/MD90 fleet will seat more than the higher pay A319/A320 fleet.
  • 738 and MD90 have equal seating but the 738 pays about 7% more or about $10K if you fly 75 hours a month. If the 738 pilot flies the 23% smaller 124 seat 700 they get equal pay. If the 90 qualified pilot flies the 7% smaller MD88 they take a pay cut.
  • The average seating for the 88/90 fleet when you total all the 88s x 149 seats and all of the 90s x 160 seats is 152 passengers. A320 fleet comes in at 138 and 737 at 156. So 152, 156 and 138. All different pay rates.
  • If rumors are true that we purchase every MD90 outside of the Saudi MD90s (which we evidently don't want) it's possible that the MD90 fleet will be larger than the 738 fleet.
  • Ah but the 738 and 320 fly further and the 767 and 764 fly further than they do and so on! True, but don't forget on a typical, sigh, first or last day of an 88 trip you'll fly 745 passengers on a single duty day.
I don't want to bring anybody's pay down, I just want to bring all the NB pay on property up: 737=A320=MD88=A319=MD90=738=D95.

I recommend all the so inclined APC Bubba's to include a similar type statement.

What text box?

I have a similar sentiment.

How can I do a similar thing?

Well you know asking for SWA domestic scope is shooting for the moon. Guess we aren't interested in ASKING for that IN THE OPENER.

Can we start an L&G office pool? Pick the date when "What are you willing to give up for that?" switches to "Are you willing to strike over that item?"

I missed this from earlier.

Thanks, Carl.

I am relatively new here and have $?0,000 set aside for a strike fund. My wife wants to spend it!!! Thanks to guys like dal88 who bought all my beer I can afford to fight for higher pay. If we don't need to strike ill buy a couple kegs and some strippers.

600 FNWA guys have taken early outs, yet I've only moved up 140 numbers since the SLI. (I'm at 12% on the list)

It seems to me that the majority of the pull and plug guys are still here, and a large number of guys that took the early outs were fairly junior.

Also, a good friend of mine-- pre merger Delta-- left during the first early out program. He was one of many PMDL to do so.

I don't want to rehash the seniority debate, but I have to raise the BS flag on this post.

I'm pretty sure there were only about 169ish that took the second early out package.

Those are good data points Sailing, especially considering Delta has significantly bigger jets than Southwest that carry more people and go further.

If we flip the numbers around and look at production here's what it looks like:

2010 Production
(for every dollar spent on pilot compensation, heres how many ASMs were produced)

DAL 93.2 $/ASM
SWA 70.6 $/ASM

That means SWA got 32% fewer ASMs from every dollar of pilot pay than Delta did in 2010.

System Total Revenue per ASM:
DAL 12.39¢/ASM
SWA 12.26¢/ASM

Or put another way:
Delta makes about the same money off each ASM as Southwest, yet Delta pilots are providing a 30% subsidy to Delta's pilot portion of CASM. thus enabling inefficiencies in cost in other departments.

Cheers
George

Let's also not forget all of the DL pilots who spend a month or two in training to transition aircraft every year. That no doubt waters down the average number of hrs flown per pilot. It was mgt's decision to have so many types on property and should thus deal with the costs.

WN pilots have traditionally, up until their merger goes through, gone to training twice in a 30+ yr career. Once as a new hire and again to upgrade if they choose to do so. Recurrent training not withstanding, obviously.
