Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
If we do, it is only 1 or 2.. but not more than that. But I guess I should feel better knowing that we have all those 737-900ERs on order.. oh wait.. what size airplane are THEY replacing? And what size airplanes are those A380s replacing again?
777 options. Do tell how many of our 777 options we have let lapse.
A few years ago, I would have agreed with you. We were putting 777s on direct ultra long haul routes. We'd take off at 3/4s of a million lbs full of people and cargo. The LRs were burning (in the neighborhood of) 12-14K lbs/hr for the final 3 hours. The company was raking in tons of $$$ with those flights.
Then...I looked around and said "what happened?"
We started filling in for the 744 when its routes got thin.
I know its a low margin business. We all want to be in it to win it.
Atlas is taking delivery of 747-800s, by the truckload.
Fedex is buying 777s like they are being given away.
Delta, not so much.
Oh, I forgot.. we ARE getting 787s in 2020.. so we got that going for us.
Sorry for all the sarcasm Johnso.. I just see nothing good going forward in terms of the way we are paid... the growth upward is non-existent, and there is absolutely zero evidence that this is changing in my lifetime. I don't like being told by the association that the JV is good for us in this way. When you look at these numbers, their fall back is to say.. "well look at our peers". Maybe true or maybe not, but don't urinate on my head and tell me it's raining. We are not growing with these JVs, and no amount of spin will change that fact. We are shrinking in guage. Look at the orders.

Now that hurts.

Well, those NB's are replacing NB's. They're replacing a plane that isn't built anymore. Unfortunately our contract has a lower payrate for the 757 vs the 737. And I know, I know.........LBP.

The 757 isn't a narrowbody. (paywise) And actually I have backed off of the LGBP idea. Too many guys scared of a seniority issue. I do like the banded pay scales a lot better than what we have now.
