I'm looking forward to the DC9 weight loss program. I figure I'll lose at least 5 lbs from all the sweating, and another 5 lbs from all that twisting of those knobs/dials and moving thrust levers.

I didn't even get to enjoy the air conditioning of the A320. It's back to the DC9 in June, so I'll be right there with ya New.

As always Alfa, you've got it backwards. The only reason ANY of us had any leverage to gain anything during mid-contract was because DAL management wanted this merger. You know, the merger with NWA.
But you actually make my point with the above statement. Lee Moak shouldn't get anybody a pay raise, that's the job of the negotiating committee. Except in this union, that's apparently Lee's job also. Along with merger committee, and every other committee. Other people may hold the titles, but nothing happens without the "Dear Leader."
He was almost recalled a few years back by DAL pilots who thought he was acting like a dictator.
I've never said I didn't like Lee. I don't even know him. That is meaningless. What has meaning is that the democratic process of checks and balances is not occurring in our union right now. That's dangerous IMO.
I understand you're one of those "I got mine, so screw everyone else" kind of guys. That's clear. I'm just telling the bottom half of the DAL-S list that their new brothers agree with them. Not with you.

Lee has never been the subject of a recall ever in his tenure as MEC Chairman. Your facts are dead wrong.
You continue your tyrant lecture, but again, no facts, no evidence just your ranting. Can't you even come up with ONE NAME? I mean everyone is getting this treatment, and you can't find one guy who will fess up.
Thanks for the personal attack. I do care about more junior pilots, I still have many years to go so I can hardly characterize myself as I've got mine. I do care about junior pilot, I just want them to get upset at the right things. Everyone is chasing their shadow on this subject and it is just a little funny. How can it be okay for Midwest to fly MD-80's but not E-190's? Answer that question with some relevance and I will join your crusade. Right now, I see a bunch of Don Quixote's tilting at windmills.

THe only problem with this view is that you are overlooking the fact that the regional carrier who will be operating 100 seat aircraft for that other carrier, also provides lift for us using 76 seat airplanes that are the same type certificate to the 100 seaters. It makes a very easy stretch for management to push for scope relaxation to allow them to do the same thing here.

I guess. You know we code share with Alaska that has 737-700, 800, and 900 aircraft. Those are much bigger than an E-190. Having some other company code share on aircraft and allowing that code on your own airline are two different things. Like I said, before the merger we did code sharing with 403 seat aircraft. By the way, we don't allow DL code on Midwest flights.

alfa,
I admit that I am coming in on the tail end of the argument, but I think the aim is to be able to see things coming and cut them off at the pass. If I'm understanding the situation correctly, the Midwest pilot group has been effectively pushed out and the work has been farmed out to the commuters. If Midwest Express is able to totaly demolish their mainline airline pilot group and then allow their connection carrier to take over their routes with bigger aircraft, we should all be worried, because United, CAL, AMR, and DAL won't be too far behind.
Personally, I think we should also be worried about what UAL is planning on doing with Air Lingus as well. But, the key is that just because the fire is in your neighbors backyard, doesn't mean you shouldn't call 911 and grab a bucket of water.
New K Now
(If that's not what the point of the argument is, forgive me.)

I'm not too worried about it until they start flowing thought Delta hubs and we expand the codeshare agreement to place our code on the Connect flights. If that happens, it is a much different animal than us codesharing with an airline that flies the same planes for the same pay that we do.

Alfa,
I'm like NewK.........a little confused about where your coming from on all this. I get it that your a loyal soldier, and since I wouldn't know LM if I tripped over him in the terminal, I'll just wait till I meet him. I promise he gets his chance at a first impression........just like anyone.
But, just so I know where you stand:
a. Who do you think should fly the 50 seat RJs? The 76 seat RJs etc.
b. Is the EMB-175 an RJ?
c. How do you feel about stapeling Compass to our list?
Easy questions, your limited to one blue book
