Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I flew the fluff and the superfluff for 9 years - never realized how fatigued and miserable I was until moving to the -88 (noise/lack of room - I'm 6'4" and 205 lbs).
I'll leave the maddog when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.
I'm really hoping this is just a ploy to get Airbus to come down on price or provide better delivery slots.
I've only got a couple weeks left on the 737 and it cant come soon enough!
I snagged a picture of FTB right after reading the bloomberg article... the HD camera brings out more details than his usual pictures of himself:

Not just you - we weren't setting any time-to-climb records for sure, but the ol' girl was hot (94F, ISA +14) and heavy (155,000#). It looks so cool, though. Almost too cool.

I'm 6'5" and 250. It's funny how that extra inch requires an extra 45 lbs.

Jug, the weight is in the afro.
Well, the B.O.D. will meet later this week to approve the purchase... I suggest anyone who knows anyone let them know what a mistake it would be to rely on this abortion of an airplane as our main domestic trunkliner.
This is from some website, not a news source. I had to read the thread at airliners.net. I wish I'd pony up the money and join so as to tell some, many, of those fools how disappointing it is to see DAL make a long term commitmet to a flaming bag of poo. But if passengers and performance are of little concern and Boeing gave them away then it's truly a winner.... on a balance sheet... for now.
Delta to Announce Order for 100 737-900s
Delta Air Lines will announce an order for 100 Boeing 737-900s tomorrow, according to several sources. *Delta has been examining two potential procurements, one to replace 757s, and another to replace DC-9s. *This announcement is the first of the two competitions to be decided.
Deliveries for the 737-900s will be in the near-term, with all deliveries completed by 2018. *As a result, Boeing did not offer its NE737, and Airbus was forced to offer a mixture of A321 and A321neo in the competition. *We understand that Boeing won the competition on two factors — price and the availability of early delivery positions, which is more difficult for Airbus, which would have needed to juggle delivery positions to accommodate Delta’s needs.
This order has a value of $8.58 billion at list prices.

Why not? It carries more people, has a longer range, burns less fuel and is over 9000 lbs lighter then the A321. The current A321 can not even do a transcon. With the Sharklets it will make it load restricted. We are looking for a jet in 2013. There were only two choices in this size range. One clearly has better specs. The rest comes down to price and the terms of the deal. I would assume if we order Boeing they put together a better package.
Had an interesting couple of minutes in Atlanta this weekend. Waiting to park, our rampers got into a fist fight. One dude was pounding on the guy holding the stoplight control. Others got involved and eventually stopped the a$$-whoopin'. Everyone on the left side of the plane saw our wonderful customer service at its finest. Five minutes of burning gas later, we finally parked. If I was boss for a day I'd fire soooo many people.
