Either case You, Us...Delta Pilots...DPA, DALPA...are losing flying and everything with it. Bla Bla about their feeding our international thourgh SEA, PDX, SFO, LAX... what ever...humor as necessary... Alaska is a good airline, but just buy them and staple!

In fact, for some reason when it comes to the domestic side of our operation we can't do our number one mission as cheap as the regional pilot or as good as the Alaska 737 pilot. We're not that good evidently, according to the powers that be.
So I propose a 12% pay cut in hourly wages in C2012.
Just pay us for duty hours and we'll create some regs for it but I'm thinking I'm willing to work a minimum average of 9 duty hours per day and average as much as 6 flight hours per day on average!
And look, I know we suck so bad the less we come to work the better, so reserve pilots, who suck the most, we'll come to work no more than 14 days a month. If you're desperate, we can if we chose come to work 16 days a month. But only if we agree to bring our general suckiness to work and only do so a limited number of times. As far as scope? Look, you can keep everything you have with 3 stipulations:
1) they cannot fly in Delta colors whatsoever,
2) if a DCI contract is renewed pilots get a 1% pay increase for every 51 seater and above,
3) DCI carriers have to buy their own fuel.
I'll sleep on it and if I can think of anything else I'll give up I'll post it. My expectations have been managed, I've been beaten. After all it was 2 vs 1. 12% cut, swap to duty hour pay, we'll come to work less and suck less each month, some scope rules but they're not very big or noticeable. 2) if a DCI contract is renewed pilots get a 1% pay increase for every 51 seater and above,
3) DCI carriers have to buy their own fuel.
Tell the board.
Thanks,
FTB
Right now I make $94/hr x 70 hours a month x 12 months a year to come to work and evidently be such an overpaid embarrassment so as to necessitate giving our flying away to other airlines.
All I'm asking for is cut $94 - 12% x 9 hours a duty day x 14 duty days a month = ... a hell of a lot less than I've been making per hour and a 58% less than say a Joe Merchant at ASA makes per passenger seat mile if we flew equal flights.

I thought there was something about Alaska or any code share not allowed to fly a certain percentage of flying between Hub cities. Do they get by this by SEA or LAX not being a hub city?

In contrast LAX was specifically defined as a hub.
Alaska code on more than 25% of flights to hubs.
With about 53 departures in LAX Alaska is permitted to carry the Delta code on right around 13 departures/day
DELTA, daily departures (2010 average)
LAX DOM 53, INTL 3.5
SLC DOM 81, INTL 2.7
SEA DOM 25, INTL 3
ALASKA, daily departures (2010 average)
LAX DOM 16, INTL 11
SEA DOM 118, INTL 2
Among the Alaska LAX international flying is the Delta Mexico flying that used to be covered by the 73N and is now covered by Alaska.
Alaska also is replacing 7ER flying to the Hawaiian islands from select cities.
Cheers

George;
What do you (reasonably) expect your union to do about this?

From 2007-2011, Alaska decreased seats out of LAX, PDX, and SEA by 12.3%.
From 2007-2011, Delta increased International seats out of LAX, PDX and SEA by 46.9%. Delta more than doubled the size of the SEA pilot base. Delta did not furlough during this time. Alaska furloughed about 10% of their list. The last Alaska furloughee is scheduled to be recalled January 31, 2012.
As far as Hawaii flying, most passengers Delta carried to Hawaii from SEA and PDX were connecting from Alaska. As soon as Alaska got an airplane with the capability to go to Hawaii (737), that connection was dead. Jet fuel over $3 per gallon in a low yield leisure market doesn't help.
All this data was presented at the last C16 and C44 meeting.

Looks like we're buying into AeroMexico to the tune of $65 million. We must have plenty of cash on hand.
