Unless you're ACL65 "I credit 90-110 hours a month every month" pilot.

You're ATL 88 which has been slow... so yes, you will get paid 70 hours every month for the most part. That is not universally true though.

The past couple months I've been at 70 because I really enjoy my weekends off and usually have stuff planned, but prior to that with very little extra effort I was cranking out 90+.

Because if you are picking up open time on your day off, then you may have a conflict with your next reserve block, (think 30 in 7.)

What I want to know is why reserves don't get paid the credit time in a rotation?

Because it's always been done that way.

Because that would take control of your life away from crew skeds and perhaps allow you to fly up to the ALV at some point in the month. Ya see, if you could do that, they wouldn't be able to fly you to ALV -2 and keep you on SC the entire month..

Yellow slip is the key. You can enter a yellow slip to fly on your x days. I'm part of the new hire group from last year and I yellow slip all month. I'm 88B at ATL and flew May -87 hours June-82 hours Jul 76 hours(even had a week off after kid #1 in Jul).

BTW I'm not crazy it's just that I was commuting from SFO to ATL to sit long call so why not fly. Moving to ATL next month so I can be like FTB and sit long call in my underwear on the couch

The cleanup crew doesn't get to make the messes.

I think FL allowed reserve pilots to pick up trips though. but I guess the thought is if the trip is never picked up then it will go to a reserve pilot anyways. The other thought is if you want weekends off on reserve you could just pick up weekday trips and have a conflict or a raw score that kept you from having to fly on the weekend- therein giving you a line that senior pilots holding lines couldn't get. The last part is, a majority of the airline are line holders and the system is weighted towards line holders such that yes there may be a time in need but you getting that trip keeps someone from getting that trip at double pay. They get trips covered because line holders are more then willing to show up 45 minutes after they were called for premium pay.

ExpressJet allowed reserve pilots to pick up open time. The aggressive pickup window was 0600-0700 for LC reserves & 0800-0900 for SC's. I used it all the time.

The way I read the SOT initiatives, seniority will be factored into the reserve process sometime in the coming year. RAW scores adjusted for seniority, etc, anybody else see it that way, or am I stuck on stupid?
