That may be your experience. It's not mine. And it's not of most passengers. When you're sitting at a mainline gate and an RJ pulls up to it, nobody says: Oh great...it's an RJ! Nobody looks forward to gate checking their bag because only a pillow can fit in the overhead bins...if there were pillows. That's why people hate RJ's.

This is the very tool that makes management want to outsource in the first place. When will you accept your half of the responsibility and what is your plan to change the current trajectory?

Carl
I want mainline to recapture scope as much as the next guy, it would help my career progression, however you are VERY VERY WRONG. It's more complex than the wages. Wages are a tiny part of the bottom line and we're all ego-driven to believe otherwise.

Do you know why mainline's outsource? I'll let you in on a secret, it isn't the wages. It's the liability. Regionals indemnify their mainline partners of liability for their operations.

In this litigation centric society, if you could transfer the risk for half of your operations to someone else, still collecting the revenue for the operation, wouldn't you do it?

Notice in the Continental 3407 crash how quickly it became the Colgan 3407 crash. The families who are suing won't have a claim against the assets of Continental they have a claim against Colgan. Much smaller fish.

Unless and until that veil of liability is pierced by a lawsuit it will be very difficult to convince mainline management of the reclaiming of scope.

If that veil is pierced management won't be able to move the flying in house soon enough.

It's all about risk management, not wages.

That's a good one for Carl.
You can't see anything inside 100 feet from the cockpit of that whale. And certainly not the wings.

What passengers really hate after the surly service from the mainline agent is gate checking their bag on a mainline flight because the bins are full and having to go to baggage claim and wait 30 mins for it...At least on an RJ they get when they get off......Don't worry Carl, when we get bigger airplanes, you will be able to fit more than a pillow in the overhead bins...

Now we've got these jumbo RJ's flying around with captains making 40% less than our narrowbody captains which make another 40% less than they should be making.

Ya'll aren't helping raise the bar....
Weren't you at a regional? What did you to raise the bar? You were lucky enough to be in the first class at DAL in '07, doesn't make you almighty mainline pilot all the sudden.

Yes, Yes, Yes - I agree!!!! My point (which I must admit, in hindsight must have been poorly made) was that individual W-2's are meaningless.

I will repeat this again - indivdual W-2's are meaningless. As was said someone used a DAL FO who made 200K as an example - totally meaningless because that is not the "norm" at DAL.

Do I think DAL Pilots are better compensated than SWA - No. Should we get a raise to match them - absolutely.

For the next guy who has any desire to respond to this post I will save you trouble:

Random DL&G Keyboard warrior extraordinaire: "Gee Scoop, I cant believe you think we are better paid than SWA."

Me: "That is not what I said."

Random DL&G Keyboard warrior extraordinaire: "What is wrong with you Scoop? SWAs Pilots make more than us."

Me: "I was talking about...................Oh hell I give up!"

Ok guys and gals!
This is getting childish. I'm all for opinions but it's getting a bit personal and for what? Everybody wants more $$. Everybody wants better working conditions. Get off your ass and get it done, but stop blaming each other and causing so much discourse in the industry.
We all came here because we love to fly (I know there are those that did it for the money and hot FA's) Let's work together to fix the industry as a whole.
