My point is, that a dollar wasted today is one less dollar that you can bargain for tomorrow. I'm sure you see that too.

I do. I just updated my post though to be more specific about that.

Dust storm in PHX.

You know what's good about dust? Add water. Becomes mud. You know what's good about mud?

I'm high 3 digits in seniority. And I thought really hard about it.

The only thing that stopped me is the fact that I'm 55 and if my frozen pension is terminated in a follow-on bankruptcy, I'd rather still have the option to work another 10 years to make up for no retirement.

Already have an outside business that takes a ton of my time. I'd like to stay another 3 or 4 years, then hang it up at Delta.

I would go now if I could be assured that my frozen pension wouldn't be terminated in BK.

Just curious...
I actually love my job and feel privileged every time I sit in the left seat of the 747. My discontent is with our current flight operations management and the resulting bottom numbers in passenger satisfaction with us. We have the tools to get better, but our managers continue to stubbornly cling to their plan...whatever that is. It's also sad to see that any increases in our next contract will likely come from Delta pilots fighting our own union as hard as management.

I'm actually not. But since you think I am, here's a tip: Aim higher.

Because I'm not CEO of Delta, and I'm not MEC chairman of DALPA.

Will your questions get any harder?

I hope mud wrestling photos are coming.

You know what they call those dustorms?

A "haboob."

Tee hee. Can't say haboob without saying boob.

My you're quite the drama queen. I learned a ton from the older guys when I was a new pilot. I wasn't in their cockpits, but I learned because I listened to them...instead of teaching them everything I knew. I knew enough to know I didn't know much.

Not learning anything from my generation has nothing to do with the proximity to our cockpits. It has everything to do with a desire to learn versus a desire to opine.

Operating at pilot "yard sale prices" for 10 years was nice. Well for mgtm anyway....

Why doesn't Pineapple guy seem to understand that? It appears both contracts were shattered in bankruptcy. The joint contract didn't recapture much of that loss either. Maybe DALPA doesn't think we deserve the rest, or deserve as much as the Airtran guys will get? I want to see major improvements in the opener, and no more managing our expectations. DALPA should represent our interests, not the company's.
