What should he do?

He should bid the MD88.

BTW, bus full of mechanics were all on board the 717 rumor. If we could figure out how to keep the engines in service at a reasonable cost it would be a great addition. Of course if anyone else could figure out how to afford the overhauls, they would keep them.

In other maintenance related observations. The cost to maintain the Airbus products is redonkulous since EADS is not letting anyone make parts for them. The four official suppliers charge something like 10 times the cost of similar Boeing parts. Maintenance says the airlines that ordered the 320 at Paris are replacing other Airbus jets before they have to do heavy maintenance, or are just thinking very short term. FWIW.

Someone must not have got the memo ... this is Southwest:

US FAA is proposing a $250,000 civil penalty against Orlando-based AirTran Airways for allegedly operating a Boeing 737 on four passenger flights without properly repairing or testing an angle-of-attack sensor on the aircraft, which warns if there is a potential loss of lift, after it was struck by lightning during a flight March 20, 2009. FAA also alleges the airline “misused the Minimum Equipment List when it decided to defer the repair and continued to operate the aircraft.” AirTran, a subsidiary of Southwest Airlines, has 30 days to respond to the agency.

Default Quantas in play

Quotes from the CEO suggests Qantas is in play. Perhaps alter ego replacement by jetstar, who knows:

However, Joyce said that Qantas International is forecast to generate a loss before interest and tax of approximately A$200 million, on invested capital of more than A$5 billion, with a worse result expected next year. "Qantas International is the group's weakest business—it has achieved required returns only three times in the past 15 years. Clearly the situation is not sustainable," he conceded. "However, we are developing a long-term strategy aimed at restoring competitiveness and profitability."
Qantas will likely announce a major shakeup of Qantas International later this year.

OK. I must confess my pop culture ignorance.
CNN quoted his rant complaining about gays, grannies and "grandes".
What does "grande" refer to? I know its Latin for large. Is he talking about fat chicks?

I guess I'm too old to know the lingo anymore.

Oooo something I like to talk about. The flying club up in Oregon that I have belonged to since I was 17 has been a raving success. As a matter of fact it is rumoured to possibly be the oldest flying club in the U.S. It has a 172 and 182. The reason it is a success is the rules are very well defined and the funds watched closely. They are well maintained because we have a hotshot maintenance coordinator.
My brother was also in a flying club with a Cardinal and 206. They didn't seem to have many problems either.
I wouldn't share a Stinson unless the pilots are very experienced tail wheel guys AND you take responsibility when one of you ground loop it. Stinson's are pretty cheap to operate so pick up a few more green slips and go buy one.
Anymore questions, please PM me.

By the way, you can go to AOPA.org and get some info on partnerships.

Grande was a new one for me, I'm guessing it's the opposite of "RDQ*"
