I've always found if you have a lot of things on your "to do" list, it's best to get your nap out of the way first...

They are required to convert pilots in seniority order or pay protect the ones you might jump over, if they converted you before someone senior who needed the training. They could convert you both at the same time, you would go straight to bidding a line and flying it, while the senior guy, who needs the training, would be in school...getting the same pay rate as you while in school.

On displacements, they start converting out of category with the most junior displaced pilot and work their way up.

According to one of our ALPA reps 77 guys have opted for the early retirement as of this weekend.

According to the ALPA R&I guy as of late last week the number was 104. I think it will go higher when the MSP 330As get a look at their bids. Most are over 60.

I am hoping for a final number of 130 to 150

Why can't we get the ground crews to have as much ambition as the cleaning crews?

I'll take a modest 8,000 or so.

My only problem with the MD88 B position is how you glow in the dark now. My wife is getting used to it but one buddy, his wife was so concerned that she doesnt let him go out during the day (like to run errands or have lunch at a BBQ joint) and definitely no sex. I think many wives have opted for the no sex policy.

Think of it like this, there will be tons of trips to DAY, ROC, BUF and JAN but no short or long term tours in A Rack.

But bid what you want and want what you bid, and if you want your wife to establish a restricted area around your marriage bed and if you want to glow in the dark, definately bid ATL M88 B.

Sorry, anal editing syndrome kicking in.
I definitely defer to you in all these matters... and I guess it could be loose.. but I'd be willing to bet a case that it was not intended that way..

That was sort of my point when sailingfun brought this up earlier. If I can't use this to fly the airplane, then I am not interested in carrying it around.. being responsible for updating the thing.. just to save 15 lbs of paper in the cockpit..

Was at MSP training facility last week and our DGS instructor told us that all 747 DGS instructors have declined to work in ATL. This seemed to surprise mother DAL so now they have offered them per diem and hotels in ATL through the end of 2012.

There will be hotels and per diem during this transition to ATL. The question will be how long the transition really takes (18-24 months? longer? shorter?), but that is going to happen for all instructors that are based in the MSP training center. This is only for the transition period however and there will be no change to the policy for commuting instructors.

I would also guess that the company hasn't even asked the DGS instructors to make a firm decision as to move, commute or quit since there is not even a plan put in place yet.
