Since we're intermingling the skeds questions, here's one.

Does a Personal Drop count as a "hard" non-fly day for a reserve (i.e. released from call at 12:00pm if no assignment?)

Good question.
The contract doesn't say either way.
"When Scheduling Calls" says yes. PD is a hard non-fly.
I think you're safe if you make it to noon.

Friday Night survey says------

YES!

Jack,

Basically management says whatever backs their current plan - nothing new here.

Prior to the merger we heard about how important "Fleet simplification" was DAL surviving and making a profit. We parked all kinds of mainline aircraft in the quest for "Simplification."

Then we merge with NW, acquire all kinds of exotic french speaking aircraft and all of a sudden, overnight, fleet simplification is out and "Fleet versatility" is the golden ticket to profitability.

So, paper will be the ticket (no pun intended) until one morning DAL decides to make a play for the 21th century and presto - I-Pads will all of a sudden save gazillions! Huge management bonuses will follow.

Black's popular 'Friday' video pulled off YouTube

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Rebecca Black's official "Friday" music video has been taken off YouTube.

The page where the video starring the 13-year-old singer once played now says it "is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Rebecca Black."

Black's spokesman says her team sent a takedown notice to YouTube because of a dispute over the video with Ark Music Factory, the company Black's parents paid $4,000 to produce the song and video.

Earlier this week, the firm began charging viewers $2.99 to watch the clip.

Lawyers for Black and Ark Music have been haggling over who owns the rights to everything associated with "Friday" since it became a sensation earlier this year.

The video had amassed more than 160 million views and more than 3 million "dislikes."

OMG they do realize that it only got a billion views because everyone (including and especially tweens) thinks its pure crap right? Put out an album and see how few people buy it. What's next, that stupid chubby moron cat rancher with the squeaky voice (and an MBA lmafo!) and her eharmony video charging money to watch it? Man if that chick from Different Strokes couldn't handle it when her 15 minutes of fame ran out, I can't wait to see the "Where Are They Now" episode of Rebecca Who? in 20 years.

HONOLULU -- A Delta Airlines 747 jet flying from Honolulu to Osaka, Japan, on Thursday had to make an emergency landing at Midway Atoll because of a crack in the cockpit windshield, U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials said.

The pilots landed at Henderson Field about 5:40 p.m. after finding a "major crack" on the windshield, the airline said. The plane hit two birds as it landed, damaging one of the jet's wing flaps, USFW officials said.

A second 747 was sent to the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge to pick up the 359 passengers. The flight headed on to Japan about 5 a.m. Friday.

"It's a good thing Midway is here when needed for these types of situations," refuge manager Sue Schulmeister said.

The crew hoped to complete repairs in 24 hours, wildlife officials said.

About 60 people live on the atoll, maintaining the airport and monitoring the refuge.

It is not a gamble. "Gamble" means they think there are odds that it will pay off. History is clear that there is no pay off in relaxed scope. The end result is always alter ego replacement until the union's representational power is irrelevant then eventual total replacement with non union workers.

We have entered the phase of representational irrelevance. We don't pick fights with management. Management placates us with 14 references to a narrow body RFP being flown by mainline pilots, feeding the peace while real airplanes are put into service which replace ours.

Why would we look at any other union's history and assume we are different?

THIS.

It's not like this hasn't happened many times before, most recently with Midwest. Methinks DAL management's new "too big to fail" attitude has rubbed off on DALPA. Being the largest pilot group for now does NOT equal a strong union. That can only come through unity and that's tough to come by when your union represents barely 50% of the pilots that do your flying.

MSP-NRT for today was cancelled, as well as the return flight. The plane was sent on the rescue mission to Midway...can't imagine there are accomodations on the atoll for 359 pax!
