Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Another item to consider - all the airbus categories in ATL are "new" categories. MD's don't get first crack at those, and guys with a seat lock can be awarded it as well. Adds yet another dimension to this "small" bid.
from the vp of latin america on the Deltanet about one of our most profitable regions at the moment:
“We view the region as one filled with opportunities in terms of alliances. We're codesharing with Gol in Brazil, where we are the second-largest carrier from the U.S., with 32 weekly flights from three gateways. In Mexico, we're strengthening our ties with Aeromexico and we're in a joint venture with Air France and KLM, where we have integrated our sales forces,” he said."
we lost fortaleza, recife, manaus. PVR went from daily to once a week. This seems to be the future of this company. Waiting for the managment apologists to explain to me how the alliances are saving our bacon (just like the RJ)

I wish it was even possible for my brain to wrap itself around the codeshares. The new scope end around is signing up every known and unknown international airline to the skyteam alliance. We just added another China carrier. Its great we are getting access to China. I'd like to see Delta jets doing the flying tho.
I personally find our union complicit in the process of codeshare and JV expansion - yet I dont find them having a strategic plan that sees around the (opportunistic) corners that management sees around.
I think Delta is in stagnation mode for several years. The truth is I still dont get it. We are a cheap pilot group that is very productive, why are we the shock absorber rather than the souped up engine in the whole thing?

How long will it take for Delta/AF/KLM to merge when the next U.S. administration removes foreign ownership rules? Before I retire I'll bet my checks will come from SkyTeam, not Delta. This place is already being set up for that if you watch what is going on with the SkyTeam alliance.
The ones we need to worry about are the carriers that we enter into a JV with. The other 50 airlines in SkyTeam that are just codeshare partners are not as big of a threat as the JV partners. I'm waiting to see how long it takes to have Virgin Austrailia flying LAX-SYD.

Skyteam Airlines by Delta Air Lines, or Air France, or KLM, Korean or China West-Southwest-Central Airlines who owns a fleet of 777s, or whoever else joins.
Paint all of the airplanes gray, $10 says our current paint scheme is the last Delta scheme we ever fly.

Two questions for any AE bidding gurus,
1.) Whats the deal with the 765 and 7ER category in NYC, it appears as both categories do the same type of flying?
(Checked out 765 lines and had a lot of international flying in it)
2.) I know it depends on the specific needs of each category, but at what percentile would you put down as a bid preference if you wanted to be between a line holder and a reserve pilot, i.e. a senior reserve pilot? I know this probably varies, but I was thinking somewhere around the 70% mark should be good.

In the winter the 765 did LHR our of NYC. All of the trips were six days. In the summer they do a bunch of other cities that need the lift, like MXP, FCO, GRU, and SVO.

70% is a safe bet. Go to the 22D3 which is the staffing list, and then go the the line count and divide the two. That gives you the most junior line in a given month. It can vary from summer to winter so add a nice buffer.

Guess that means a 765 guy wouldn't be able to pick up a 7ER trip that is in open time, or vice versa.
