LOL...."knowing your pilot group" fail.

Most WB guys in MSP are the last remnant of the "old guard"...the guys that rolled in off the prarie when they were 18 and have been in MSP since. Guys and gals who are parked in Apple Valley, Edina, Minnetonka, or some other burb of MSP/STP (Peachtree City equivalent for you fDAL types). "The Cities" is the center of the known universe to them. They are going NOWHERE. They've downbid from the 747-200/DC-10 to the 330, and will now do the same by bumping into the 7ER or 320.

You probably have guys that still think that we can't jumpseat and have to send in a travel voucher 6 months ahead of time to get your non-rev tickets.

If I were on the ER or the 320 in MSP, I'd definately have a MD card in.

I rolled the dice on 330 in ATL. Got free crash pad there and a car to use, so, ***.

Oh and I would not be at a loss for words if CVG and or MEM were shut in the next few bids.
That's kind of my point. It's supposed to be small, but the waterfall effect could be HUGE!

Sometimes I wonder if they're trying to nudge guys to the other side of the fence.

I have my MD in for the 330 in ATL as well. Not sure I want a two year seat lock, but I still have a few days to ponder this.

The 765 in NYC may go real junior FWIW.

They decided to close CVG a long time ago. They're just doing it slowly.

I agree. And IMO MEM is next. Part of the continuing base 'realignment'. Once the DC9's are gone, there is no point to keeping it open.

The one thing for sure at least this won't be masked by other major changes. We will all learn a lot from this bid.

I say MEM is safe and so is CVG. They'll be somewhat tiny though.

Remember, if we can whipsaw our employees and our contractors we sure as hell can whipsaw our airports and local governments. MEM and CVG have a purpose against ATL and DTW.

You can have "Hubs" without "Bases" and the other way around

I disagree. What I see happening with MEM is this:

DC-9s are going away, so those folks will all get MD'd to other equipment. That leaves only the 320 in MEM. Right now we have about 46 or so departures a day from just LGA on the 320 (could be dated info so DYODD). NYC is screaming out for a 320 base for the shuttle (BOS for now, but the GSA contract should be up for recompete putting DCA in play for mainline). Anyway, the smallest base left for the 320's is MEM and they would just have to MD them and viola NYC 320 base.

So bottom line, sometime in the next year they'll close MEM as a pilot base and then finish off the folks in CVG.

I hope I'm wrong.

Especially since you can't get from LGA to JFK easily. Just fly them from LGA to ATL then ATL to Europe. Doesn't seem smart to me, but I'm sure it looks good to the bean counters. I bet JFK shrivels up, especially of the swap finally goes through.
