Reminds me of a thermodynamics class in college in which the prof said that you could take one 3 x 5 card into each test with any info, notes, equations, etc that you could fit on the front/back, heck, even sides. Well of course those of us who were "smart" figured we didn't need to really study prior to tests as we would simply write down everything we knew on the card the evening prior. As you can guess, panic quickly set in as about 1/4 of everything needed didn't fit AND our eyes usually hurt as we wrote so small, we couldn't read it anyway. During the the test, you could hear him chuckle as he looked around staring at all the confused souls trying to decipher what we each wrote on our cards, frantically trying to find various formulas.

ah, a buddy of mine from Auburn was jumpseating into EWR on another mainline airline, hint, and both pilots were anxious to catch their commutes. So anxious they had everything stowed away and were shooting the 22L ILS mostly from memory.
Right at the last second they got sent around and as they started the climb they requested vectors and the already swamped tower said no, fly the published.......... eh...... kind of hard to memorize climb to 500', turn right, continue to 3000' on 225 heading, fly inbound on the ARD 069 to KILMA and hold.
and no i don't believe that airplane had an FMS to display the missed.
So I got to learn a lesson at their expense.

Lesson learned, don't assume Newark has any idea what they are doing. It's Jersey, remember. In my career at Delta 66% of no kidding missed approaches for traffic conflicts have been at Newark.

The Q400 turboprop should be flown by mainline. Anyone who thinks turboprops are not going to be making a comeback does not understand their economics. I personally believe turboprops will be crossing the ocean with 300 pax on board in 20 years.
