Its grossly unfair, it violates seniority and its costing jobs.

We complain when RAH violates the "spirit" of the contract using loopholes and technicalities and then we do it ourselves.

And it absolutely will be used for "status quo". We might be stupid but management is not.
I got no problem with running all trips through company pot and picking up via WS. Some categories never have enough res coverage and I could see that being a problem. If they would loosen up the PDs, it wouldn't **** anyone off except the 140 hour ******, and I don't really care about that.

But ultimately that's a management decision. This is a massive amount of leverage that management has against your pilot group.

How would you get full contract restoration if management's counter proposal for that is we're merging you guys with Comair?

A simple solution to the trip parking issue is to ban any trip picked up via WS from being traded. Dropped, yes; traded, no.

Not sure I follow here, to get full contract restoration we should fight to merge with the different DCI carriers?

We should fight to end DCI imho. Managements whipsaw against mainline pilots is DCI. Management's whipsaw against DCI pilots is DCI pilots.

Section 1 is our leverage. At the least if we hold the line and let the 376 50-seaters eat their own until they're gone. Get RAH kicked out and that'll create a lot of short term issues as well, more easily resolved by using mainline equipment in their place.

Which any *reasonable* regional pilot would accept, because career expections at a regional and at a major are different... in fact, I'll bet an arbitrator would uphold "staple" of regional and major.... because my career expectation is currently CRJ900 CA, which is "smaller" than the smallest equipment DL operates.

In favor, yes. Hell, interview me, I don't care.

Agreed all around. Mesabah's logic in where the 900 CA's would work out on a seniority list is..... not.

I emailed the guy and he was willing to do the swap. The problem is the trip parking abuse. Legal but not ethical.

Denny-
You are correct. Sorry if I was not clear.
I have no problem with DBMS "Swap with the pot". The problem is the swap with friends and/or pick-up board. That little jewel is what allows the trip parking and schedule manipulation outside the contractual protections.

If there's a way to fix it that would allow the swap scenario you described while preventing the unethical contract violating aspects, then I would be in favor.

Until then- it is an abomination. I can hardly believe that DALPA has allowed it for this long. There must be a good reason our union wants to reduce manning but I can't think of what that would be. Why don't we go back to "vacation selling"? That's the ticket. We should have a "Sell your vacation" board. That's another real money-maker for those guys flying 140 hours a month. No more of that pesky time off to worry about.

Well it's true that a CRJ900 A would be below a DC9 A. The part that wouldn't happen is that it's a regional A in the A seat. But now that the regional A is at mainline, they get to fly a wide assortment of high paying airplanes, at some point, to include the DC9, MD88, A320, 737, 757, 767, 764, A330, 777, 747 and I guess CRJ900.

You know what else you can do with trip parking? Time out at the end of the year. So all year long staffing as been sufficient right til the end then it's horribly insufficient and becomes the responsibility of everyone else to cover.
