But Bar, youre probably the guy to ask, in defense of the 88 and entire DC-9 extended family, how many fatal accidents has the DC9 or 88 family been in that was attributed to the design and not the pilots, maintenance, fuel or what have you and how does this compare to the Boeing and Airbi?
Defending the MD88 is like asking a feminist "what Maria Shriver do to Arnold to chase him into the arms of the maid?"

The DC9 and derivatives is certainly a safe airplane, it's lack of predictability helps pilots avoid complacency.

Sounded hard to believe, but I guess it's possible if the trips include a lot of deadhead time. Can't wait to hear from the company how 100+ hour months are the "status quo" when we get closer to contract time and self-help options.
We should take that swap board off line right now.
Its grossly unfair, it violates seniority and its costing jobs.

We complain when RAH violates the "spirit" of the contract using loopholes and technicalities and then we do it ourselves.

And it absolutely will be used for "status quo". We might be stupid but management is not.

Not trying to be argumentative, but could you explain how the swap board is being abused?

I don't think it's a swapboard problem. It's a pilot to pilot, swap with friends problem. Ideally it's a great tool to use when you need it. I just swapped basically the same trip with a guy only it leaves a day earlier. After the bids came out I found out I needed to try and get back a day earlier. I emailed the guy and he was willing to do the swap. The problem is the trip parking abuse. Legal but not ethical.

The word abuse is IMO a little strong, I put trip parking in the "contractually legal but unethical" category.

Edit: Damn Denny, get out of my head...

How bout this? Swap with friends should be equal or similar trip value; ex. a 3-day trip to a 4-day trip, or 2 3-day trips to a 6 day trip. That should stop the trip parking, right?
