To add to the "weirdness", just finished a flight in back on an ASA plane, on deplane, FO steps out of flightdeck and has a "OneLuv" SWA ID lanyard around his neck. Walked by and thought I was on an airtran flight. No kidding.

.........so DAL mgt. thinks that outsourcing provides the same motivation to excel as doing the work internally.

And 1990-2003 DALPA/NWAPLA thought that it was a good idea to sell pilot jobs to line their own pockets in the short-term.

Strike issues aside, we have been debt free as well and you can't beat the freedom and peace of mind that comes with it.

we could keep it hidden on this thread...just use trip report for easy searching??

ok, back to contract 2012 stuff!
So what's it gonna be? You decide where you're going?

100% with JABDIP. I've gone a lot of places in the Caribbean thanks to corporate flying and I think that the panhandle beats all in so many respects. I'd say its the beaches you'd expect in the Caribbean but just south of the great state of Alabama.

But personally, go around the Seaside area. We vacation in Santa Rosa beach, nice houses run about $1200 a week but if you go in mid to late August a lot of those drop to under $700 a week. It's about a 20-30 minute drive to the heart of Destin where if you need something they have it. Another 10-15 min lands you in Seaside which is neat to see.

The beaches are not nearly as crowded thanks to the $2-$4M homes on the beach there, the sand is fantastic (no rocks), the water has no seaweed or jellfish and it is clear to the point you can take a fish net and catch these little white fish running around the bottom. Give me about a minute and I'll catch some with a $2 net. It's easy.

Look up VRBO, we stay at a place in Old Florida Village in Santa Rosa, it's a start. The drive is about 7 hours. We launched out earlier this month at 3am and that worked out well for us. We also drove up through the center of Alabama on the way back, don't do that... unless you would like to make a stop at the home of the National Champion Auburn Tigers!
Otherwise, stick with going through CSG, Eufaula, DTH, I10 and then to Santa Rosa area. Otherwise if you do Destin I'd consider the I65-I85 route.

Don't forget, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30am the blue angeles practice. I've never gone there as its an 1:45 drive from where we stay but I'd like to show the kids one day.
