I've seen that as well. Personally, I believe that's laziness on the gate agent's part, or an attitude of "Well, if D-0 is the goal it starts with getting them on the plane--here they come, ready or not." Likely thought is, "Waiting 30 seconds for them to answer is just going to slow me down. Besides, they say they're ready 90% of the time anyway."

It gets better. Twice passing through ATL on my last rotation they tried to board without asking the FA's if they were ready (they weren't) and the first class pax got to wait in the jet-way (90F+, noisy, your typical pleasant jet-way atmosphere). I guess they could have climbed over the catering carts which were blocking the capacious galley of the 737.
I am not sure but this might be some new program - anyone else experience this?
With that being said, and I hate the D-0, D-3, D-??? emphasis, but I can kind of understand what they are trying to do. Some delays can be made up, some will build cumulatively throughout the day. I believe it is the latter that our crack management team is trying to mitigate. I have to agree though, that sometimes I am embarrassed by the very rude treatment of our passengers.

Cleared to push yesterday in ATL and the ramper gives the gate agent the go ahead to pull the jetway back. Only problem: the power is still hooked up to the jet and they pull the receptacle and the receptacle door out of the jet. Ooppss. 3 hours later we depart. So much for D-0.
"We'll know something in 10-15 minutes. Can't board until at least then."
Much to my chagrin, she walks right over.. grabs the mic and starts making an announcement about how the plane will be ready in 10-15 minutes and they are starting boarding.
I trotted sharply over, interrupted her and made her retract the PA. The red coat that was waiting down in the jetbridge got a talking to about brainwashed D0 idiocy and the fact that we're already 3 hours late...

I posted this in the DPA thread, but this also goes here: Anyone notice the complete lack of mention of RAH in the C44 release of MEC meeting happenings?

Ok, got rerouted into a golden day earlier this month. The new rotation had us released just under 24 hours after our originally scheduled release time. Now, when I check my time card it shows 13+ hours under reroute pay. So, is that what I am now getting paid in excess of reserve guarantee? It seems excessive since all we did was layover in BWI and then DH back to MSP - but hey, I'll take it
Or, am I not reading my time card right (which is very possible)?
