Hmmmm.....Not quite the same 6.5% that the rest of the company got was it. He gets incentive whether or not we make a profit
From the article:
The pay for Richard Anderson was down 4 percent from the previous year. His $600,000 salary didn't change. But for 2010 he received incentive pay of almost $1.3 million. He didn't get that incentive pay in 2009 because Delta didn't turn a profit that year. But he did get relocation benefits and other perks valued at $1.2 million, so the two payments roughly offset each other.
Delta said Anderson's base salary has not changed since he joined Delta as CEO on Sept. 1, 2007. He gets incentive pay in cash for years like 2010, when Delta turns a profit and has a payout under its profit-sharing plan. He gets incentive pay in restricted shares if the profit-sharing plan doesn't pay out.

You aren't thinking like a reserve guy. Say for example that 10% of a category puts their trips out on the swap board and all of them are picked up by out of base guys. This trend continues for a period of time... Now, those guys that dropped their trips aren't gonna just sit home and not fly for 30 hours a month are they? they are gonna pick up trips from open time that are more suited to their desires... So what happens when DAL re calculated the number of reserves required? Hey.. we got all these reserves sitting around doing nothing.. we don't need any additional manning. That and the fact that greenslips are gonna dry up because when trips don't get dropped into open time because some other guy is flying them.. they won't go out as a GS... This is a concession guys... Sorry, but it is. It doesn't force the company to fix the abortion we call the reserve system, and we bail out the manning again. Copme to council 66 LEC meeting next week.. If I can make it, it's gonna be a barn burner.

I think most folks get what you are saying. I think you said it best when you described it as a concession.
It appears good on the surface, but in the end it hurts everybody because fewer pilots are needed so progression slows.
Reps that dont see this are guys that think they are management.
The guys that are all excited about this aren't thinking critically.... or pessimissticly (how do you spell that?) if you prefer. Think about the law of unintended consequences. Trip parking is but one example of this. Sure.. swap with your buddies on the surface sounds like a good idea.. but look what the sharpshooters figured out. I have finally discovered that when the association brings us something that they tout as a good deal to look for the flaws, and in this case, I didn't have to look too far.
IMO, what they need to be doing instead of this is to fix the reserve system. And I have said this before, and I will say it again too. You want trips in my base? Put in an out of base WS/GS and best of luck.... or, bid it on the next AE. Not this... not now.. not ever.
