Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
They average 12 day months at SWA. I suspect if you look at all DAL domestic fleets, we cannot make that same assertion.
DAL prices its product at very little above cost. IOW we wholesale the ticket and try to make our money by all the ancillary fees. Dickson's letter says DAL gets $450 from AMEX for every skymiles credit card sold. Give me a little more of the action and I'll hawk the cards on my days off.
AMEX has been great for DAL, but honestly I dont know why a savvy consumer would go the AMEX route - fees, high interest if not paid off, blackout dates, etc. If they can afford to kick back $450/card, its even a worse deal for the consumer than I am capable of delving into. Our airline seems to be a marketing vehicle for adjuct businesses with fewer rewards coming to the company. IOW why dont we insource all the adjunct business, we have the scale to do it.
I am pleased DAL is paying off debt. 2-3 more profitable quarters and lower debt will result in a credit rating upgrade and wall street will respond favorably. Severing ties with the ticket mills will help us regain pricing power. If we can reel in our outsourcing and actually control our quality (rather than lipservice it) this might once again be a top company to work for due to the prospects available to employees.

Ha, I think tsquare means that this DOT, who has a man crush on $outhwest, would never allow anything detrimental to ever happen to them such as say grounding the 737.
Even if it was discovered that it has a tendency to explode in the sunshine or something along those lines.

It screws junior pilots... again. If you want to fly trips in my base, put in a WS or GS, and take your chances. OR... bid to my base... Otherwise, this thing is ripe for abuse... I would much rather that the ASSociation actually do something worthwhile and fix the damned reserve system. This is a bandaid on a sucking chest wound.

But slowplay says that we average 87 hours a month across the board here at DL! I'm not seeing it...

I looked at the report for MEC meeting costs. I do understand that it costs money to hold these meetings. I bet you could get a much better rate by holding these meetings at the same place. A bulk purchase deal. Frequent user points. Theoretically, the meetings move around because the MEC wanted each base to have the opportunity to see their union at work close up. But, given that most of the meetings take place in closed session, the meetings could be held in one place.
I am of the opinion that it is grossly inappropritate to drink on the Union's (our) dime at these business meetings. I don't expect DAL to pay for my liquor. And, I don't expect to pay the union to drink either. Actually, I am surprised that you see coffee, water and soft drinks served at LEC meetings. Buy your own drink if you are thirsty.
I suggest that it might be appropriate to offer a resolution to prohibit dues dollars being spent on any spirits. That would include all of the "hospitality" rooms at ALPA meetings, too.

As it stands now, I've never used the swap board, but I know I would have for some trips I have seen in SEA. I bet the guys junior to me in SEA wouldn't have liked it...
It's good to be the King!

Now, if they are already receiving per diem while eating for free that's an F.
