it's a little more than a hi how are you thing, but obviously not a full interview. They take a look at your resume, and try and determine if you meet the qualifications. I don't think the prescreen will get anyone hired who would not have been otherwise. But, it may help get your stuff looked at a little sooner.

thanks, a guy in my unit has offered to help me with the whole process but I had not heard of the meet -n-greet process at Delta. just wondering if I should press him to get me in on the pre-screen or should he just walk my stuff into the 4th floor.

135Toad,
Heard from a pretty reliable source that 'walk-ins' really aren't THAT welcome because there are so many of them and they end up taking a considerable portion of the hiring department's day. Imagine being busy with projects all day long and 3-7 people show up in your office at random unscheduled times -- are you happy to see them? A quick email to the right person is just as effective, if not more effective. And the net effect is the same: whether in person or not, 'the HR guy' will look in his database, verify that the candidate is qualified, and then pass his name on the the decision-makers. pm for the source if interested/applicable. I got the impression that walk-ins MIGHT actually hurt -- especially if the sponsor is not well acquainted with the guy he's trying to help.

Delta 'serves' those places but you're not there right now, are you? If you select the ER you will be. Get it? You'll drink the koolaid about QOL but it's hard to pass up Russian tail when it comes your turn to pick.
Bottom line: no more "new" spots, but plenty of "openings" when people bid out of NYC.

PS Careful with those russian tails. Last I heard HIV is spreading there about 700 people/month, but they prefer not to talk about it.

Actually, Delta does do this. It's a pre-screen process. If your buddy drops your resume off to one of the Chief Pilot offices in ATL or any other region, they will review it, call you on the phone, and decide whether or not to invite you in for a pre-screen interview. If they like you, they will recommend you to the hiring board, at which time you should then get an email to interview. It's another way to get your name to pop above the thousands waiting in the application line.

Gents,
Everyone comments on how meticulous they are reviewing the printed airapps application during the interview. I am ashamed to admit this, but I can't find 20+ hours in one of the time categories.
How closely do they look at the flight times?
Thanks

For what it's worth,
I interviewed at the end of last month and was off by 3 hours, my log book was 3 hours more than Air Apps. They never asked me any questions about my time. The only log book question they asked was about two airport identifier's and how long it would take to fly between them. I gave them a rough guess and he closed the book.

Any of you guys in the indoc training know about a welcome day for spouses? I heard there may be one while in training...

The dinner will be the second Monday night during indoc. It was VERY nice and they will fly your spouse/guest in from where they are to join you. Delta pays for the ticket and doesn't care if they fly in Friday and hang out during the weekend leading up to the dinner and don't care which day they go back either. It was well worth it.
