As for the second part, We will get the seats that were part of the flow agreement. If anyone is stupid enough not to flow, then that number gets reduced to those that have flowed.

I had 4 stuck in my mind so this is good news. Now I won't feel bad at all using a couple. I think I'm ok with S3 going over but I'm sure I'll need an S2 coming home since there are a bunch more nonrevs vs biz seats.

Rumor alert:
Gate agent from SAT told me the other day that they were told to rebid the fall schedule. He says after the summer Delta is cutting many flights due to fuel price. This guy is a gate supervisor so I would assume he's in the know.

Thanks for posting that. It does not however cover the fuzzy math use of WS, vacation buyback, a full month of ALPA trip drop work and picking up a GS, etc.
I too would like to see actual dollar figures reported to coroborate the policy you quoted and factually confirm or disprove the concerns raised. I agree its our money and we have every right to see where it's spent.

But strictly looking at the policy manual, its states that vacation loss do to ALPA work will be covered in accordance with ALPA's Administrative manual. I looked it up, it's covered in section 060-O (pg63).
It goes into great detail on how the vacation bank works. Without pasting the entire section, it essentially gives them back the same number of days that they lost due to ALPA work. Lose 3 days of vacation, get 3 back. Kind of messes up your vacation plans though when it breaks your vacation up. No reimbursement for that. The cash buy back is covered in the same manner that the volunteers contract stipulates.
Getting late for me, early get up tomorrow, but I assume GS and WS are covered in the same manner as any other pilot, in accordance with our contract. Work on your days off, get more money. Of course the full time guys don't get nearly as many days off as the rest of us. Call your rep and ask him how his WS/GS are paid.
By blaming JC Lawson, you give him too much credit. It was company policy that new hires resign their seniority. Management chose not to change it and would never have considered it unless we opened up the contract and gave something up.
However, JC saw an opportunity and chose to exploit it, seeking more scope relief or a flow-through or whatever. When he was rebuffed, he chose to write the letter and twist the knife a bit more, when he could've simply written a letter of support, even though he was powerless to change it.
There's plenty to loathe about JC, especially his stance on this issue, but never forget it was management that ultimately decided not to help the DAL furloughs. Many of us line pilots vehemently disagreed.[/QUOT
CaptainV,
First off - I agree with almost everything you post above, which appears to make the then COMAIR MEC policy look even more foolish.
Assuming what you say above is 100% true then it seems to make even less sense that the COMAIR MEC did not go out of their way to help the furloughed DAL Pilots. Perhaps something like this:
"We, the MEC of COMAIR fully support the hiring of DAL Pilots with their DAL seniority numbers."
If it was COMAIR, and by default DAL policy, then JC and the MEC had nothing to lose by supporting the DAL Pilots- Why not make a statement in support of the DAL Pilots? Who by the way ponied up $$$ in support of the COMAIR Pilots during the strike and ensured there was no struck work flown by mainline.
But you are right, JC and the MEC choose to exploit it instead of supporting the DAL Pilots, which by the way ASA, also wholly owned, managed to do quite well.
Bottom Line:
ASA MEC and Pilots supported furloughed DAL pilots.![Smile](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
COMAIR MEC and Pilots - tried to take advantage of DAL Pilots for their own gain.![Frown](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Agree with your characterization of how the different MEC's approached helping a fellow pilot out. Bottomline for the CMR guys is JC's stunt didn't work, CMR is now going from 113 aircraft to 49 by the end of 2012 and from what I can see, Delt has hired far more ASA pilots than CMR pilots lately. Call it Karma.
