Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
FWIW, I do some committee work for ALPA (Pro Stans), and dropping a trip for union business is nearly unheard of. Most guys don't look for paid trip drops, and many don't even ask for reimbursement of expenses (usually phone expenses). Maybe other committees are different.
That has been my experience. I have gotten two ALPA trip drops days, not trips, in the entire 15 years I have been doing ALPA work.
Please don't take this website down that road.
Unless you have some evidence, veiled allegations of corruption do not advance the debate. They are pretty much pointless and really not welcome.
There is plenty to criticize about ALPA. We do it every day. However, I don't think you'll find the participants here on this forum willing to accept that the local pilots who work for ALPA are doing it because of the money.
Its that bloated beast of a bureaucracy up in Herndon that needs to be brought under control. The local pilots doing committee work are really not the problem. Except to the extent that they protect the beast and its budget.
I don't think its fair to question those guys' motives. I know some of them and I've been watching all of them for many years. They're not crooks. They're good people with good intentions. They're just too loyal to the machine. Too entrenched.
We're slowly chipping away at that mindset. Convincing them of the need for reform.
Welcome to the fight.

Nu
I don't think "enemyofthestate" said anything that bad.
I just don't like insinuation and bald assertions like that. Give me names and dates.
But,
Having defended our ALPA guys...
I would like to know if any of them actually pulled down a quarter million for ALPA work.
I find it hard to believe, but if its true then maybe its worth looking into.
(I hope under the next contract, all Capts will make at least that much including ALPA guys. But I think it would be, let's just say, "eye-catching" if any of our union guys made that much under this contract.)

The exact compensation of full time ALPA volunteers is as elusive as the Fountain of Youth and Eldorado. I do not have access to exact numbers, but all of us who pay their expenses should, and I suspect there is law and policy that supports that. I heard those numbers from a rep so I consider them credible. I believe several LEC's have tried numerous times to get the information and have been rebuffed in every attempt at the MEC level. The fact that they are so circumspect and guarded about it would lead one to believe there is something they do not want the membership to know about, otherwise it would be there for all to see. It's not mine to prove but theirs to disprove as they are public officials using our money to fund the organization.

Why did you quote me? I have said nothing about anybody's compensation in any of my posts....

Interesting. I guess you point is that if there is nothing to hide, why not make it public.
Are you talking about 24J positions that the company pays, or something else?
