I thought the part about "Ford-Cooksey" was very important to post. Most people think that we have to negotiate with all of these other MEC's with anything wrt to Scope. This effectively tells our pilots what that settlement entails. It is meet and confer, nothing more.
As for the second part, what can we say, someone has a sense of humor. I think it has been quite some time since we have seen that in an official publication, and I for one, welcome it.

However... I did think the "Touch and Go" was well done and informative. (Although FTB could have REALLY made it funny!) I just have one question about the "meet and confer" thing. What's the point of meeting and conferring if it has no bearing on what we do wrt Scope? While the language does not technically require our guys to act on their "meet and confer", it worries me that it would/could still influence their thinking and therefore the outcome.
What do you guys think?

Hey, question for you military guys on insurance... I'm reading a ton and watcing the R&I webcasts, but figured other folks have probably already cracked this nut, so:
What is the best insurance setup for a retired military guy with a family?
-- I've got my family covered under Tricare Prime right now, retired.
-- I don't have any dental at all, but I'm within the 4-month window for retirement that lets me select "Delta Dental" for my family from Tricare if it's worth it?
-- No current known medical issues for family, but do expect some dental needs for wife and kids... currently no coverage since retirement.
So... What do you guys think is the best medical and dental insurance setup for a retired USAF guy with family? I'd heard that United Healthcare was our provider and better than Tricare, and I assumed DeltaAirlines plans would be far superior (they were in 2001!), but with this possible shift to tricare, maybe my mil benefits are good?
Thanks!

It is what you get when there is a legal settlement.
There is no influence, just a few guys that want to be privy and share their concerns. We will do what we want either way.

Congrats on the retirement. I retired a few years ago and choose to go with Tricare for Medical and Delta's Dental and Vision. The Dental is tons cheaper than Tricare and the Vision actually supplements the Tricare Medical.
I know of a few guys doing it this way but every situation is different.
There is a fairly lengthy (and old) thread on this in the military section.
