So MEM is shrinking by 25% and the population of Detroit has shrunk by 25%...
No wonder thoughs heavy fortified NWA hubs where so easy to defend...

There's still something like 30 million people within a 3 hour drive of DTW though. That's huge.

Top end limited. Retirements will come off the top, and that is where the training is the most limited.

Also, the new training cycles eat up a ton of training time.

Block hr limited. We can only deal with a certain percentage of pilots in training at a particular time for schedule integrity.

Point, is we are a lot leaner than we once were.
Seems there is also a bottleneck at the OE level. Lack of LCA kept many on the sidelines awaiting OE.

Its blatantly obvious that Republic has been thumbing their nose at our scope clause with their holding company / separate certificates charade. Now that even the NMB is set to declare RAH a "single carrier", maybe the administration has decided to enforce Section 1.D.

That language in our contract is very important. The clear intent is to prevent any code-sharing which directly subsidizes competition on larger jets. RAH is a textbook case of this. They're using the guaranteed profits they make from the fee for departure arrangements with Delta to purchase and operate Airbus and Embraer 190 jets that directly compete with Delta jets of the same gauge. That is the exact conduct prohibited under Section 1.D.2.c .
If this is, in fact, the potential scope violation that is being looked into, I have extremely low expectations of the union actually attempting to force the company into compliance with the CBA. I hope I am wrong.

I don't follow your logic?

I wouldn't even call DTW "heavily fortified", plenty of competition up at the new north terminal from SWA, Spirit, Lufthansa, and Royal Jordanian.

Big mistake in my opinion.
How is RAH different than the codeshare we had with AMR Eagle?

Good question!!! Never thought of it like that before.

I remember that CAL also used Eagle out in LAX for truly "regional feed", i think Eagle is like a mini-version of ALK, nobody can make money if they had to compete head to head, so they all pool together and just use one airplane to move everyone's passengers...

Not saying I necessarily LIKE the arrangement, but its better than losing money and cutting it altogether.

(I still think the ALK thing needs to be absorbed or drawn down over time)

What would be the significance of it being different or similar to another codeshare at another time? I haven't looked at the language in question WRT RAH, but either we're in compliance with RAH, or we're not.

Right?
