Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

I would say the opposite. In order to bring the TLV down they need more 88B pilots in ATL so they aren't so understaffed. If they were going to send more to the desert, they wouldn't need more bodies to bring the TLV down.

ACL,
Have you heard how many 320's may replace the 90's in SLC? I'm hoping at least enough to minimize the damage for current 90 guys getting booted out of the base. Are they also looking at moving all the 88/90's out of CVG to MSP?

So in a answer, I see it being equal. I do see some 767/757 jets being moved out though. Zero sum though.

Well route management does not want to park them. They want the 90's as a growth aircraft. Flt Ops seems to think that given the current restrictions on hiring et al that the 90's need to be one for one with the 88's.
That said, the Route guys always get what they want, and I am sure there is some sort of a power struggle going one. We need bodies and they do not want to hire. Well, if we do not hire, something has got to give. That or, we need to give in and hire to operate the planes route wants to put on given markets. They would love the 90's ( not 900's the MD-90) to replace 50 seat jets on a 2 for 1 type of deal. ( 1 MD-90 for two 50 seat jets to the desert) Got it. I did not want to confuse nor alarm people.

Good info ACL! Thanks for the info..
By the way... has any A-320's been painted yet?

I remember the network guys in indoc saying the potential for the 90s was crazy. If I remember correctly the leases were so cheap they could operate them as a "100 seater" with the extra seats as gravy! Now that's been well over a year now, and the world has changed big time, but he sounded very excited about what they could do with those jets. Fingers crossed they are all growth!

The F Word
With all this talk about needing pilots it sounds like the Furlough talk might be a thing of the past? At least for now? Or is there another option we, or we at the bottom, should be concerned with?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Well Weed,
We are going to see a surplus of pilots this next winter there is no doubt about that. After SOC there are going to be so many inefficiencies with DHing crew to where the planes are until they can get the crews rebased, that they really are not looking at furloughs. It cannot be taken off the table ever, but right now, there are bigger things to deal with. Like combining two groups of pilots and airplanes. It takes a lot of time and money to get pilots in to the correct positions for a company to furlough.
So in short not now, but not never.
