Yes, it is different if you are on reserve. From section 23. U. 6.

6. GS and IA pay and/or credit examples:
The GS or IA rotation is referred to as rotation #1; any other rotation that is subsequently
awarded/assigned is referred to as rotation #2.
a. Example 1.
Rotation #1 cancels; pilot does not report.
Results:
1) Regular pilot – single pay and credit for rotation #1.
2) Reserve pilot – no pay or credit

There are six other examples of how you are paid and credited for GS trips if they are cancelled or modified in the contract. And it is ALWAYS different for reserves when it comes to pay around here....and never to your advantage.

The biggest issue is the overhead bin space
A number of the "original" 16 90's have been converted to the new configuration - with that change the video systems go away - but, they do have extened overheads now which makes a huge difference to the number of carryons that will fit in the cabin. This makes life much easier for our passengers but the other changes (like no aft galley) make things much harder for the FA's.

Truth be told, management reaped a HUGE gain on PBS. Some accounting I've seen is well over %15 staffing efficiency. No dropped trips for mil leave, vacation, traning, known leaves...that is HUGE. Well over 1800 pilots for a group our size.

With that kind of efficiency gain, the payo out to the pilot group should have been much higher.

Combined with scope, retirement (for those who had it), pay tables and other work rules, it makes a joke of the question "what are you willing to give up to get what you want?"

Now in all fairness, I love PBS. But I realize it cuts back on pilots but I hated pouring through bid packets and compromising on what you want whereas now as a reserve pilot I say I want all these days off and that's it.

And as to pensions, after watching what happened to Delta in chapter 11 no thanks and no offense to those who love them (and there are many I've flown with that want a pension program back in C2012) but if I live another 50 years I seriously doubt I can trust that pension to exist that long. It worked for one generation, maybe two, but that's about it. But that's beside the point, pensions were erased, there was a lot of prepayment of C2012s massive gains.

---
And since we talk a lot about culture issues, and since we fly there (that's my one tie in), I thought this was worth some attention from an article in the daily telegraph:

The landscape of parts of Japan looks like the aftermath of World War Two; no industrialised country since then has suffered such a death toll. The one tiny, tiny consolation is the extent to which it shows how humanity can rally round in times of adversity, with heroic British rescue teams joining colleagues from the US and elsewhere to fly out.

And solidarity seems especially strong in Japan itself. Perhaps even more impressive than Japan’s technological power is its social strength, with supermarkets cutting prices and vending machine owners giving out free drinks as people work together to survive. Most noticeably of all, there has been no looting, and I’m not the only one curious about this.

This is quite unusual among human cultures, and it’s unlikely it would be the case in Britain. During the 2007 floods in the West Country abandoned cars were broken into and free packs of bottled water were stolen. There was looting in Chile after the earthquake last year – so much so that troops were sent in; in New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina saw looting on a shocking scale.

Why do some cultures react to disaster by reverting to everyone for himself, but others – especially the Japanese – display altruism even in adversity?

This might mean something else. Those runs are old Midwest routes, which is currently done by Republic... Either Mother D is going for the kill, or they think there will be void in those routes. maybe?

So possibly using a CHQ erj to directly compete with another RAH company. Interesting

So a competitor is subsidized and compensated either way. Brilliant. Maybe we can hire Southwest to overfly their own routes out of ATL too while we're at it.
