Man it does my heart good to hear some of the more junior folks talk this way. It shows me that you don't believe the con-job that is being perpetrated by management/ALPA, and parroted by so many junior folks that hope to be management/ALPA some day.

Con-jobs are everywhere. Use your own logical mind to discern when there's a con-job, and you'll almost always avoid them. Succumb to emotion and fear, and you'll almost always fall for them.

If this is what mid life crisis looks like, I prefer to "accidentally" get on a flight to Rio when my time comes.

So I was wondering...

I noticed the reduced number of lines for April versus March, and I did a little calculation. THe international aircraft are mostly stable across the bases, maybe a 1% drop. The domestic aircraft are down abut 8% across the bases. The bases are not 8%, but overall it is about that number. So is big D reducing domestic capacity 8%, or moving more of the trips to other non-mainline aircraft? Or is my math wrong...

Hopefully this is not a trend.

I don't know, those numbers seem realistic to me...

25 days vs 5 days to break even means the capital costs for the MD90 are 1/5 of those of the 73N.
All-in with mods the MD90s are running right around $10M.
that would mean $50M for the 73N

Seems realistic and in the ballpark to me...

For comparison sake, the big CRJs are anywhere from $18-25M
The C-Series has a list price of $50-60M

An that's why we won't see the C-Series at Delta, it's just too capital intensive for the mission.
Instead, DAL needs in tat segment is something used, with modern motors so it's fuel efficient and low capital costs...

JB or UsAir East or maybe a bidding war on AAI? They love those bidding wars.

I wonder if the 797 will have a common cockpit and type with the 73NG, that way if you already operate 600 737s you...

well, to be fair, the MD90 could have had a much nicer cockpit. Saudi, cough, cough!
