I'm new to this line-holder thing, but I just got a call from crew tracking advising me of a reroute that flies me into my day off. There are no IROPS going on other than a delayed DH. Can they do that? They never did this to me as a reserve and I'm not happy about it as a line-holder. Any contract geniuses on here to shed some light? Suggestions?
If you are domestic and you are getting back to base more than 4 hours later than your original rotation, welcome to Reroute Pay (double).
If you are international you have to be back more than 30 hours late.
Note the 4 and 30 late refer to release time, not credit or block hours flown.
Thanks guys. That's what I was afraid of. So I get home 14 hours late on a day off and get double pay on a 1:20 deadhead. Bummer. And there's no daily minimum on a day with only a DH right? This is what happens every time I try to learn the contract: I don't like what I find!

This is a HUGE problem in our contract! Please call your reps to pressure them to have this changed!!!!!!
There should be a large finical repercussion for the company extending a line holder. Right now it is cheaper for the company to extend us rather than put the trip in open time and give out green slips and assignments. Not to mention how this affects the pilots life. I had a rotation extension a few months ago in which I was not notified until 2300 while in flight that I would not be returning home. This was too late for me to make arrangements and changes to my home schedule. The result was a loss of $375. To add insult to injury my reroute pay was denied and my rotation pay only increased 1 hour and 35 minutes. They said it was outside the companies control and that therefore not eligible for reroute pay.

Why would you do it that way? IS that your way of sticking it to the man?
Yes. It looks like you LAX 73N guys have mostly 1 or two legs a day. I looked at the ATL 73N packet and saw a lot of their trips have 3, 4, and even a 5 leg day.
I think they are taking it easy on you guys because they are unsure of the effects that the tiger blood and Adonis DNA that you guys possess out there, has on flying.

Perusing the LAX April lines it looks like we have A LOT more multiple leg days then normal. Three and four legs a day are not unusual and the destinations are odd as well. MSN, GRR, MCI, PTY, etc, are all new. Plus, looks like we're going back to a high percentage of SNA departures. At one point last year, we were at about 35% of all of our originators out of SNA, then that disappeared. Looks like we're heading back in that direction for the summer.
