Sorry but the analogies aren't the same. When a Corp gives to a pol, the pol doesn't end up being their boss/ When a Union gives to a pol and the union in this case is a civil service union, then the Pol gets elected and becomes the "boss".

I find it interesting that the FED GS types are prohibited from collective bargaining, yet they make more money on average than their private sector counterparts and have a pension when there are very few companies still offering them.

I disagree. Two wrongs do not make a right.

Capital cronyism is as wrong as any other government giveaway to political contributors.

Although the true identity of the one who said this might be in doubt the words are spot on:

The American Republic will endure until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.
Longer quote: A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.

Uh, forefathers? Try current employees. A couple of these might solve the problem.

I had a talk with a Captain once that was pretty enlightening. He told me what his Captain buddy's are saying about what they'd accept in the next contract and it'd make you mad. Made him mad. I like Captains with SCOPE lynards.

Want to know how many RJs Delta awarded during this 4-year timeframe? Zero.

Comair's commitment letter expired two months ago and within days Delta awarded aircraft to SkyWest/ASA and Republic. Now, apparently, Compass as well.

It may be a play for negotiations, or maybe Delta just had to wait until January 2011 because they have no intention to grow Comair.
Possible. While I wouldn't discount the possibility of DL management trying to play games with one particular DCI carrier, I'd still bet that 95% or more of any conspiracy theory that might actually be real is aimed 95% or greater at the mainline pilot group. This one could be both however.

I'm suprised that Comair hasn't gone "final solution" with an extreme backstabbing predatory bargaining mentality after watching so many "deal me an ace" underbidders take not only growth but existing flying while basking in many cases in the glory of 2 year or less upgrades while they themselves are facing 10 year reserve FO's and furloughs soon. Sort of a "write any terms you want and we will sign it, provided it is a 20 year deal with 100% of DCI growth and agressive airframe transfers built in" type of thing.

That is the kind of "patern bargaining that is going on anyway, it is only a matter of time before one carrier nukes the entire industry once and for all in a last ditch attempt at contractual self defense, and maybe a little revenge/hubris thrown in as well. Perhaps that goes against the bylaws of the DCI brotherhood meetings or whatever they are called though.

True. I see that now. -5 points for FTB.

You often still hear it manifested this way, first anything made by Embraer or that Bombadeer company is not a mainline aircraft and then when it comes to RJ pay "they're paying their dues, I paid mine..."
