Right on! That's why we shouldn't pay taxes, either! Let the Air Force find some other way to buy airplanes. And don't get me started on the cost of ammo in Afghanistan! And Medicare? Put Grandma out on the ice floe when she loses her teeth.

I need that money at my house. My kid's iPhone is nearly 2 frickin' years old! Besides, all ALPA will do with it is negotiate more profit sharing that I'll have to pay dues on. The only reason ALPA negotiates more income for me is so they can dues it!

Yup. No way to cut any waste because the gub'ment and ALPA have no waste. They are lean, mean governing machines.

Save your rant for the political thread. This topic has nothing to do with taxes. Did ALPA negotiate the FA's profit sharing? Gate agents? Ground Service?

For Alpa to insinuate (however much in jest that it was) that the proceeds from the profit sharing checks would be used to purchase a boat (Captains) or a big screen TV (FO's) is insulting to me.

If anyone didn't get around to tell ALPA, those days are long gone and I will be using the profit sharing check to actually put food on my table. How about that?

But I guess they needed my $130 dollars more than I did, right?

Which came first...the ALPA profit sharing plan or the Delta non-contract plan (same w/ merger equity and bankruptcy equity claim, too). obtw, did you notice that not all FA's and Agents got the same profit sharing you did...because of what their bargaining agent negotiated? You might want to reread what DennyCrane wrote.

So if in your view ALPA hadn't "caved" and kept the pay far higher and there had been no profit sharing...how would the dues have worked out on the higher pay? Let's call it 6.52% higher so the math is easy for you, groundskeeper.

Seriously folks.

Simply put, ALPA dues are 1.95% of your pay..... The profit sharing is part of your pay.

Its like saying "ALPA should take dues from my pay, but only 93.5% of my pay".

As I recall, max augmented crew day on the Lizard was 24 hrs. I left MAC in '85, so that may have changed.

Contrast that with my longest Atlas day: 35 hrs Sao Paulo - Lima - Mexico City - LAX with extended sits at each stop, making it all perfectly legal. I was an FO at the time and the Capt fended off our mutinous desires.

We have a moving map?!? Is that what that thing behind the yoke stands in front of?

Never really looked at a 9 bid packet but to be honest we better hope that once the 9s are gone that the 88 is doing those trips.

Just pray they're better constructed but that they are ours and not theirs...

or theirs...

^^ damn good looking jet. So glad we have so many pilots who don't want to fly them STILL. insert rolleyes here. ^^

and for now whose responsibility is that? DALPA. Then in 2012, ours.
