lets do some public math on 100 newer MD-90's and Two-Class regionals. They have announced how many RJ's and how many MD-90's? How many more 70+seat RJ's can they add?
My math shows as of June they had 223 70+ seat jets, they can add 32 more so.
32 RJ's +30 MD-90's = 62 jets. Not all of those RJ's are announced either. They are only at 235 with the RJET announcement so effectively; 12 RJ's + 30 MD-90's = 42 jets
Right there Ed states 100 jets. There is a disparity here between announced jets and what he is stating. Like I said worst case scenario you still have 62 jets that are unaccounted for in the RJ limits and the MD-90 announcements. True?

IMHO we will see a 100 seat platform configured with whatever seating configuration is allowed. The change can be made overnight with a log entry. The C Series and MRJ are lighter than the airplanes they replace, giving management more flexibility around archaic, poorly considered, scope language.
Don't completely count out the CRJ1000 either.

Why don't we just stop flying and keep the $30 billion and fire everybody? Earnings per share will be incredible for next quarter.
Airlines have NEVER shrunk to profitability. We must find a business model that works, beat the competition and dare I say, oh no, DAMMIT WE HAVE TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO THEIR DOORSTEP AND BEAT THEM, drive the bastards out of business while telling their customers how much we love them.
Oh drat, it slipped out. Sorry. I'll go back to retreating in defeat ... outsourcing is the answer every market challenge. Does not take up front money, effort, or involve risk.

I do agree with your statement though. At our size we cannot shrink to profitability. DAL has proven that though greater hull utilization it can still grow ASM's.
People say no hiring, ever. I say do not hold your breath. Get the mod lines going at a better rate on the 90's and get the slot swap approved, and this proverbial log jam will start to clear up.

Wow! That's unbelievably proactive. I'm looking for ammo to show a gate agent if necessary. I was bounced last week by a fed, and only happened to get the FA jumpseat, otherwise the agent was convinced I was making up the PS thing.
I've forgotten about it until today and of course the commute's looking tight as usual... Did I mention commuting to reserve sucks?!

You can't do it through the gate agent. It has to be done through the CPSC or scheduling.

LeineLodge:
Checking the Flt Ops page under Jumpseat and Deadhead it only says that you will be on "standby" list for JS, FA JS or SA. Can't find where you are guaranteed a seat. Call CPSC or scheds if you are in a bind.

No one wants to see a mainline jet parked. No one.
Point is that using Ed's words he used today, we park those 9's but using that 100 newer jets and those RJ's statement, there is a disconnect there. The airplanes above the 32 possible 70+ seat RJ will have to mainline and more than likely 90's. My point is that there was a major hint given in that release today about the 90. It also adds up to a net gain unless they park 88's and it is at worst case a neutral trade out.
My dots connect a few things here, and I refuse to get a helmet fire at this time.

There were only 116 MD90s ever built and currently only 109 are flying....that includes the 29 Saudi planes with the MD11 avionics. As far as I know, we currently have 19 MD90s actually out on the line. Even if we bought up the entire world fleet, we're not getting '100' more on top of what we already have.

Delta's still acquiring < 70 seaters under contract. Reference Republic's 70 seat flying announcement.

Point of my point bar is there are limits and even after the RJET 3announcement they can only get 20 more 70+ seat jets, 32 total. That is a long way from the inferred 100 "newer jets."
