I have never heard the company preach insourcing for pilots, I don't think there is any question they would like to break the union at Delta and outsource all pilot jobs.

Exactly. Oh and they are good for the mainline. And we will get a solid no furlough clause. And if we grow they can add more, but if we shrink they get to keep them. Maybe we can go up to 84 seats, which is just an E190 with first class. It will give us a competitive advantage! Weeeeeee!
ALPA/DALPA must prove to the membership that they are serious about scope. The epic fails of the past must not be repeated.

BINGO! It's our job to keep scope in check. Read the entire TA. Go to the roadshows, & for heaven sakes UNDERSTAND what you're voting on.

"No matter what, I'm gonna buy a RED car! Now, Mr. Salesman, let's talk about how much I'm gonna pay for it.... but it's gotta be RED!?"
Scambo, assume you're going in to buy a car next year. Would you REALLY telegraph 21 months before negotiations that you HAVE to have a RED one?

I think you missed the previous poster's quote to which I was responding.
If the company would like to bust the union (which I dont believe) why wouldn't the HMFIC of the union want to strengthen the most important part of the contract. What part of this is telegraphing?
It is survival, not a choice.

OTOH, if we do wish to strengthen it, that's fine; but telegraphing that is playing into management's hands...
It might have been unintentional, but you just took me back to the ALPA magazine cover that had the Midwest MEC Chair on the cover...all smiles as they were closing the doors.
Also, I dont really need a lesson in negotiation 101. Saying things like "playing into managements hands" is absurd. Flight Ops management IS pilots, they think like pilots, they know and are friends with pilots, they discuss all sorts of things with thier former squadron-mates. It isn't like anything here is some big secret.
