Enjoy your crossing.
We vote the way ALPA tells us to. Don't kid yourself. At US Airways, ALPA knew the pilots would not vote away their pension so ALPA didn't let them vote. This lead to ALPA being de-certified. The SLI was a huge part of it, but the pension was just as big of a deal. ALPA is very persuasive when it comes to voting. It almost always gets its groups to vote for tentative agreements.

CAL
777-200: 22
767-400: 16
767-200: 10
757-300: 21
757-200: 41
737-900ER: 30
737-900: 12
737-800: 126
737-700: 35
737-500: 39

UAL
747-400: 26
777-200: 52
767-300: 35
757: 97
A320: 97
A319: 55

When you look at the combination of UCALs fleets, you see 1. what a powerhouse fleet combo they will have. 2. That there are some jets they may likely shed: 76-200s, 76-400s (maybe), Some United 777s.

Comments, postulations?

I think the 767-400s are the only ones the "might" get rid of. The 767-200s are actually very new, they are from 2000-2002 or so. Replacement for DC-10s. The United 777 are some of the first ones off the line, so 1995, which makes them 16 years old - middle aged really for a long-haul airliner. also, United uses them like we use the ER: flies them all over, and some domestic too.

CAL flies the 757-200, 757-300, 767-200, 767-300 and 767-400 as one category, so there's no extra pilots sitting around for the different categories. I bet their network people love those, as they can use big or small airplanes depending on the season.

hence we will be one category for 757, 763 and 764 fleet one day.

i agree with ia, those 762s are practically brand new. it was the 764 CAL was most disappointed with.

I dunno. I listen to the dialogue from ALPA and from my fellow pilots and make a decision on how I will vote. I do not think they have influenced me. Furthermore, the pensions are frozen or gone. CH11, is the only place the frozen ones would be shed. That is a fear of yesteryear.

Capn's comments about "never" going to the ALPA site and then calling out anyone "except PG" to PM with factual information leads me to designate him the official:
"Latest and Greatest"
Of the Day.

It will not be awarded daily, and on occasion I may even have to award it to myself (maybe a few days late after realizing what I had previously posted), but it will always be available as a prize to those who have distinguished themselves.

*Disclosure: I have had a few tonight, and if I judge that it was an unfair award, I will follow through and award it to myself. Good night.

I dont know if this has been discussed or not but it looks like the slot swap is alive and well.

I hope so. I always calculate how much I think I should get paid on the mid month. I am always underwhelmed. Seriously. Always.
