I agree. These are fences not quotas.

From the ruling:

4. For the period of five (5) years beginning with the first bid period after the issuance of the Single Operating Certificate (SOC), no pre-merger Northwest pilot may be awarded or displaced to a vacancy on a B777 aircraft or category and no pre-merger Delta pilot may be awarded or displaced to a B787 or B747 vacancy.

5. Should the merged company take delivery of any aircraft which is/are a replacement of any aircraft covered by Paragraph 4., the captain positions and, as applicable, the first officer positions on each such replacement aircraft will be allocated in accordance with the Paragraph 4. restrictions on the type it is replacing.

If the 744s are a new order, or in my example, a replacement for A330s, the whale flying would still belong solely to the north pilots.

If they were new orders then I agree they would be fenced. But if they are a replacement aircraft for 330's, which we can all bid, I think the argument could be made that those airplanes should be open to all. A moot point any way since it's not going to happen. (Glass half empty today!)

Crested Butte gives airline crew 50% off of daily tickets, AND they have a really good on hill medical clinic. Don't ask

Correct. But LCC already has a 319/320/321 fleet that's split between IAE on the East & CFM on the West. And, correct me if I'm wrong, I was told some time ago by a LCC West fellow that deliveries are still being made with split engines.

As for rumor, that's pretty wild. Can't believe that. Everything we've been told is Marketing likes the A332 for the longer, thinner routes.

I bet Carl is probably your age or younger!

Being senior does not necessarily mean old.

I gathered that it meant that you are at max longevity on the pay scale.

I know that you were initially trying to infer and longevity based pay system with no difference between aircraft. Or at least that is what I thought you were trying to infer
