ICEMAN - The Later Years from NiNo
There I was...sitting Bravo alert in Frankfurt, Germany. I'd been to Sachsenhausen the night before so I'd filled my quotient of beers and brats, and the obligatory Doner Kabab at midnight. Standing by in the hotel at Rhein Main waiting for my phone to ring and to spring to answer democracy's call and leap my C-141 into the skies...and then I met FTB and 80. Seems my past life was, now, not so full...I have met my match and I am teamed with fellow warriors at least as able as I. Ahh, but the elders shall instruct their young...nay, nay, the young shall teach their elders.

Hey Buzz, you ever think about writing a book?
A friendly reminder of rule #3 of international flying brought to you by 80ktsClamp:
Never trust a fart.
While in Quito a few days ago, I woke up in the middle of the night and accidentally got half way through a glass of water before I realized what I was doing. Bad move, 80... bad move.
Thus, I have been forced to respect rule #3 since arriving back home.

Well...
Tomorrow is my last day in USAF, fini flight too. So I'm about to turn in my "return to Delta" from 5 years of MLOA about. I've been reading here for 5 months or so. Couple questions though, if anyone knows the answers. I was hired in Jul2001, did my IOE checkride 9/10 and flew until Nov 2001, then furloughed. Recalled 2006, took it and immediate MLOA. So only three months of flying active, then "back" but on MLOA
1. Am I still on probation when I come back, or was that waived?
2. Am I on 1st year pay when I come back, or will it be from the pay charts?
3. If I tell the company I'm avail to come back 1 Mar, will I have my choice of aircraft/base that I can hold from the seniority list, or do I get some NYC thing?
4. Is there any reason to rush-call them before the AE bid closes 28 Jan, anything I gain by trying to be "in system" before bid closes?
5. My plan was to see what I can hold after AE and bid accordingly, assuming I have my choice... What's better, SLC 73N B @63% , or SLC 320 B @ 61%? (Phx commute) Or 7ER reserve at bottom in LAX or SLC?
Take a break from the contract arguing and help an old noob out!

1. I believe you will be on probation until you hit 400 hours with Delta... not positive with the MLOA thing but pretty sure.
2-4.... was going to take a stab at 2 but I realized you took instant MLOA. I'll defer to these and continue to pick my nose.
5. Any category may vary over time... especially similar categories like the 737 and 320. At the same % in like types you typically will have similar QOL, but that may vary. Bottom rsv as a commuter I would not recommend.
