Vision Airlines has been in business for years doing charter stuff. I've seen their 737's & their 767's before. I think they're trying some scheduled ops now, but the company has actually been around for a while. Their 767 fleet is maintained by Delta Tech Ops. Here is more info on them.

I think it all depends.
With all the consolidation that's been going on, not sure how much of a chance a startup will have if they start trying to compete at the major hubs.
Tha being said,
At least they are not another Skybust trying to sleaze their way in with $20 fares, and if they stick with the smaller, underserviced markets they may make a good run on it.

We are thin staffed at any number of points. They put off hiring pilots too late last year and now they are paying a bunch of us to sit at home awaiting training, because they didn't want to bring new hires in at their inflated salaries to over staff some categories so that we could adequately staff other categories.

We have been running lean. Like a long distance runner, that's ok. The problem is when the marathoner is asked to sprint and there aren't any stores of fat to draw upon. Ok, maybe not the best analogy but I hope you get my point. The MBA types don't study history, so they are doomed to repeat it. Corporate America did this in the late 1990s and into the early 2000s, they then bemoaned the lack of good workers.

In order to provide good customer experience we need to staff above the bare minimum at all levels and that includes people behind the scenes that customers don't see. Crew tracking and accommodations work ok during normal ops, but they're stretched. So throw in a major IROP and it falls apart. The mahogany row was hoping that one major IROP was all we had to deal with this winter, too late they learned "Hope is not a plan".
I got caught up in the last IROP and was/am completely disgusted with Delta's performance vis-a-vis aircrews. The support structure failed and failed miserably. What does Delta say? They blame the snow.

That's BS! It's been snowing since before Wilbur and Orville were born. It WILL snow in ATL. If a snowstorm is going to shut the whole operation down, perhaps the OCC/crew tracking/etc should be located where they have a clue how to deal with snow, so people can get to work.

Wait a sec... didn't NWA have an OCC (or something similar)? When a few inches of snow fell, did their airline come to a grinding halt? Maybe they were onto something....

How do you think it would work if called in and said "I'm having an IROP at home and can't do anything"? I'll bet it would get me a free trip to the Chief Pilot.

Rant Over (but disgust remains).

Delta is now an official sponsor of the LA Lakers. (Delta Becomes 'Official Sponsor' of World Champion Los Angeles Lakers - Valley News Live - KVLY/KXJB - Fargo/Grand Forks)

Please please please tell me that this is the beginning of a SoCal expansion. I want to return to my home state and I'd rather not be a 73N copilot for the next twenty years.

Maybe they should move the OCC back to MSP. Only 18 inches of snow will be a problem... For a day!
