Sad but true though it boggles my mind - if reserve (short call) is not considered rest for domestic pilots why is it considered rest for international? I know that this is how the FAA sees it but it doesn't make any sense. This is one of reserve items that should be addressed in our contract.

It doesn't need to be addressed in our contract. It should be addressed with the FAA and ICAO. If we were to pass tougher rest requirements but our competitors do not, we are screwed. Rest requirements shouldn't be a contract thing, it should be law.

While I agree it should be law, it isn't (yet) so we should address it in our contract. NWA has the rest requirement for Int'l and I do not believe we were at any disadvantage, it just means the company has to staff accordingly.

When guys divert or refuse trips due to being fatigued maybe it will get their attention.........

Sailing,
I was not at the meeting but please don't blame these guys for doing that if that is the case. In fact if your statement is true, they are doing exactly what every news media outlet and press secretary (senior administrations official) has done for the 6 administrations. I mean why not pull sound bytes from an entire conversation and get it down to 30 seconds of talking points.

Meant to be very TIC

Also, don't forget that if you get assigned a trip on your first day of a block of reserve days that has a report time before 12:00, it counts as one of your short call days. Sometimes they forget to credit that to you.
The SC credit for a show time before 1200 on your first day of availability was a casualty of the new contract. We got reduced SC numbers (6) but lost the early show credit.

That statement was said...just not in public at the meeting. Alot more goes on than just the public talk at the meetings.

Please advise who said it and when, as your assertion has been refuted. "I've got a secret" won't work.

Do you disagree? And why should we believe other pilots or you over ACL65? I fail to see how your "buddies" are any more accurate then the hearsay from ACL65. I'm just trying to understand how their info is any more accurate then his.
