You all read the new Master Chair's letter?

Seems they are getting the message loud and clear.

Really? The first time in the history of aviation?

My head is not spinning around...it's just shaking at such an unbelievably ridiculous statement.

Good first missive. I'm skeptically optimistic. I really liked the idea of educating the electorate like they were LEC reps. Here's to a prosperous New Year!!

Yep, everything starts with education. If given the background on each issue the pilots will be able in a better position to truly weigh the options.

I'm exceedingly disappointed in this message. Two pages with bullet points. Talk of pay and quality of life. NOT ONE SINGLE MENTION OF SCOPE! I'll be making it very clear to Mr. O'Malley that he definitely missed the message in DTW where SCOPE restoration was a big topic of discussion. This is where O'Malley will be able to show his independence from Moak and ALPA national. So far, he's off to a BAD start.

I am heartened by this statement: Ultimately, the satisfaction comes from results—results of establishing a solid plan, allocating ample resources, clearly defining goals and the force of execution that comes from a unified pilot group. If I didn't know better, I'd think he lifted that directly from one of DAL88's posts.

Karma is a MF. While you guys were all getting hosed by the blizzard I was safe and warm in my home with the month off. Then my 14 yo falls and breaks his ankle in three pieces. Successful surgery but now I have to go to training for a month while he is hobbling around trying to get to school and up and down the stairs. Luckily I'm married to a saint.

Wish I could have traded Dec off for Jan...

I too was disappointed that he didn't mention scope. I would say, from everyone I've talked with and from what I read both here and on the DALPA Forum, that scope is at least equal to pay as one of the top two most pressing issues for this pilot group. Why it didn't get a mention in this letter is beyond me (well maybe not... I have some ideas but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt at this point). If it's any consolation, I had a long talk about a month back with a couple of the C44 reps in ATL, and they were extremely adamant about the importance of scope.

Obviously, this was the statement I found most appealing in the whole letter.

Happy New Year everyone!!!
