The only way you end up on the 6 hour leash is if they attempt to assign you a trip and you do not acknowledge the trip by 3 hours prior. You are then obligated to sit short call for 6 hours starting at your original report.
Yup. That's correct. I'll edit my post.

If you declined HIT prior to the end of the last duty period where you were projected to go above 70:45 you could decline extra flying. You had 11 days off in 30 with 6 of them inviolate. Reserve patterns did have holidays off for a certain amount of lines, you had the "choice" to bid RSV or a Line if you could hold it. NWA used the rap system where you were on duty for 15 hours and off for 9, and on the last day of rsv you were not required to be available after 6 pm. 75 hours of pay guar.

The only thing that will keep me home for Christmas this year is an illness. Otherwise, I'll be racing Santa's Sleigh.

That would've been helpful info in the past. I was always told I had to go over 80 hours!

Oh well, it's moot now. Or as Joey from Friends would say 'The point is like a cow, ya know, cause it's moo.'
