CS: Hello Mr. Nuguy, we're showing you on the involuntary call out list today (the IC list was made up of the bottom %10 of the blockholders in each category, no fewer than 5, but no more than 10, that were actually subject to junior manning, everyone else could answer their phone safely and tell CS to buzz off).

Me: Uh, OK.

CS: We have a trip for you.

Me: Uh, OK

CS: Its a 4 day trip and leaves in a hour. How soon can you get to the airport?

Me: MSP? Errr, it might be a bit.

CS: Ummm, I just called you at home, right? (home is 1,200nm away from MSP)

Me: Yup

CS: And you're home right now?

Me: ????

CS: {heavy sigh} well, never mind. Have a nice day.

Me: ><

Me: Returns to the Barc-a-lounger.

Reminds of being Blockholder without a Block.

Crew Scheduling: I have a 3 day for you. It's a XXXX report.

Me: Ummmmm......that's in 6.5 hours. A long call guy gets 12.

Crew Scheduling: Well, you're not on long call. You're time available away from base.

Me: Ummmmmm.........well it's going to be 12 hours minimum.

Crew Scheduling: Sigh. Ok, nevermind.

That reminds me of the time I was time available due to a PBS error (pre-merger NW).

Scheduling: I've got a trip for you. It leaves DTW in an hour and a half. You deadhead to IND to pick up a plane and fly it back to DTW.

Me: You know I'm time available at home don't you? (Alabama)

Scheduling: You can catch a flight from ATL to IND.

Me: Does NW have a scheduled direct flight to IND from ATL?

Scheduling: No, but you can get an offline jumpseat.

Me: It'll be a minimum of 2 hours to ATL where I'll catch a NW flight to DTW then to IND that will take another 4-6 hrs depending on whether there's a flight available in ATL.

Scheduling: Ummmmmmmmmm.......nevermind. I'll get a reserve in DTW.

Crew scheds pullled some wacky stuff when I was on 5 months of TAAB, but they always came through with the positive space when they really needed me without so much as a peep from them.

I wish we had it back. Heck, 68 hours to sit reserve at home? Phew, where do I sign up?

Just be sure to take something away from Pineapple Guy to give it to us.

How about more rumors? What is everyone hearing out there?

I had an MD88 Linecheck guy tell me that there COULD be 750-850 newhires next year, and every MD88 and MD90 will be modernized in the cockpit to look like 717 style cockpits.

Anyone got anything else?

Nu,

I LOVED TAAB! 68 hours to sit a home and fly maybe 1 Four day or 3 day a month. I miss it a lot.

I'd rather they spend the money on water seals around the cockpit windows and an unhidden supply of gray bags.

Hi Rocky - I'm using the Sprint Evo, also an Android base. All the browsers I have work DeltaNet fine, including TravelNet. But once I try to get to iCrew I start having problems. I can log in but then things get all up-screwed. I hear it's the 80's programing that DAL is using. I also hear they are working on a new program that will support iPhone, Android, & BB.

Anyone else have any Android issues w/ iCrew??

Baja.

6 months on the FLUF now and I've finally figured out where the bags are usually hidden. We had NW bags on the plane the other day... man do I miss those things. Two jepp revisions and it still had plenty of room to spare...

That's classic. Good idea.

This is what over controlling a 757 and getting into PIO's look like:

If you find yourself completely out of phase with your control inputs to aircraft movement, you might be doing something wrong... and might end up as the second most viewed picture on airliners.net!
