I agree, that's what would happen in that situation.

Anyone have a solution to a AK merger that, if forced to merge, we could find palatable for our brethren in LAX?

This is all conjecture but I think PBS looks at the trips available when it is processing your bid. If it determines that unstacking needs to happen, then you are unstacked. Probably, by the time PBS got to the junior guys bid, no more unstacking was needed on the 26th so voila!
