Okay, here is another question for you reserve gurus. I know, as a reserve, you cannot be flown over the guarantee unless you yellowslip. My question is........can that guarantee number change if you have vacation, mil leave etc. Or can they always fly you up to 70 hours? Example: You have 6 days of vacation in a 30 day month. Your guarantee is reduced by 2:20 a day down to 56 hours but you also have 18 hours of pay for vacation and will get 74 hours of pay for the month. Can you be called out on a trip or trips that will exceed that 56 hours without yellow slipping? Thanks,
Denny

Okay, the ALV is 73 hours in Nov. With 18 hours vacation pay and 56 hours reserve guarantee you would be at 74 hours, one hour above the ALV. Can you be called out on a 11 day trip (14 days of availability) worth 68+ hours? You would now be paid 68+ hours (trip worth) plus 18 hours in vacation pay for a total of 86 hours and some change. Can this be done if you do not yellow slip?

Question. I'm converting to a new category on the 1st and going to training in the last week of the month. I know you get ALV if you have the entire month off but what about having only a portion of the month off? Thanks..

Hope that clears some things up. Sections 4.C and 22.7 address this.

You'll get your new pay rate like Denny says, but the amount of hours will be a pro-rata portion plus your training. In other words, if you go to training on the 15th of Dec and the ALV is 72 hours, you'll get (14/31)*72 plus 3:15 per day of training.

I'm one of those benched for DEC and according to the helpline, I'm an ineligible bidder.
BTW, if you are converting and don't know for sure when you go to training, you can look at your calendar in PBS. According to iCrew, I don't have training scheduled, but the training shows up in JAN on my PBS calendar.

I'm was assuming that he was going to qualification training not CQ. Section 4.C exception 4 applies to the days prior to going to qual training (pro rata portion of the ALV). I believe this section applies once he is in qual training (Sec 11.B):
B. Pay and Credit
1. Qualification Training
a. A regular pilot, while assigned to qualification training:
1) will be paid and credited the greater of (or at his option, on a bid period to bid
period basis, either of):
a) rotations removed during periods of continuous training to:
i. accommodate travel between his base and his training location when such
training is conducted away from his base, and/or
ii. accommodate such training, and/or
iii. eliminate an FAR or PWA conflict that arises because of such training,
or
b) pro rata portion of the ALV at the rate of the highest paying aircraft model
shown on his line for each training day.1. Qualification Training

This is why I said he should get paid the ALV for the month.

Originally posted a Worldflight release, but it still won't format correctly in the forum.
In any case, rumored that RA wants to replace OSS withing 18 months, and at least 4 vendors are on the property trying to win the bid to replace FPS.
